If it's road debris you are not liable. If it come off your truck you are. Yep. Don't matter where it bounces. If it come off the truck it's liability.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

Who is responsible, the poorest person. Aka car owner. Not so. I've had a conversation with three different owners of trucking companies. All three of them gladly agreed to pay for my vehicle damages. Yep, windshields aren't that expensive but time for arguing is. That is my point Jared. Companies drag it out and insurance companies flip you the bird. That's what they're supposed to do.

The 300' foot rule is a joke made up by some hauler. How can you stay 300' behind the guy when he passes you? When he changes lanes to in front of you? When he's going slow and you have to pass him? When you're in the left lane, he's in the right and an emergency vehicle is coming up behind you? Yeah, some trucker had a buddy with a print shop. Or use a little common sense and dont tailgate a loaded truck. I don't tailgate trucks. Read what I said. There are times the truck driver puts his ass right in front of you and you have no control over it.

In my experience...an i drive one everday...its the driver alot of times..if you aint checkin the apron, top of the tailgate, and sideboards...alot of times the tarp only does so much...you got a tarp onit dontchy? Knowing and doing this after you get loaded is the difference in a good employee and just another driver, and he saves everyone time and money. If the rock hits the road it’s a road hazard.

Funniest thing I've seen like this was going to the Atlanta airport. One ton pulls onto the interstate pulling a loaded cattle trailer and is running about 85. Traffic is heavy. A older blond in a small Mercedes pulls up and tailgates the cattle trailer. Until the cows start pissing. One let fly and two more got her before she could change lanes. She was in a convertible, but the top was up. That would be grand to see!!

I always had to load the cows face first because I drove so fast that if they put them butt first the wind would rip the hide right off them.

I had a big rock fall out of a truck in front of me once that landed on the sunroof. Sounded like a bomb going off. Trucking company told me it must have kicked up from the tires and was road hazard. I asked how would it have hit the sunroof if it had come off the road. They came back and basically told me to prove it came off their truck, so me and my insurance company got to pay for it.
If voting made any difference, they wouldn’t let us do it.-Mark Twain

Had a dump truck pass me on 85 several years ago that was dribbling gravel out of the back of the truck. Broke my windshield in 3 places and pockmarked my bumper and side mirror. Everyone he passed was getting peppered. I stayed well behind him until he got off on an exit and passed him and blocked him in. He gets out fussing and cussing I told him to go check his tail gate that he had just caused many thousands of dollars worth of damage to a bunch of cars. While I was videoing the stream of gravel drizzling from the partially opened gate there must have been 20 cars pull up to get the name and number off the guys truck and their own video proof of the half open tailgate. Yeah they paid for that one.
What you do today, you have to sleep with tonight.

I heard that story twice. When I showed up in person and explained it, in my special personal way, they both agreed to pay for it.
