Get macros where they need to be for your goals. Low carb is a fad diet that is not healthy. x2 on macros Low carb can be healthy or not healthy. Eat only non processed foods with lots of raw vegetables and healthy meats and it's very healthy. Try to live on bacon,sausage,bologna,eggs,and butter and you will likely lose a bit of weight but eating garbage will eventually catch up with you.

When you throw in heart issues you have to be careful with fats I had it explained to me be a cardiologist that sugars scratch blood vessels and allows for fats to accumulate there.

I didn’t read any of the replies so this may have been covered. Intermittent fasting puts your body into Ketosis.
The Keto diet puts your body into Ketosis.
Doing both puts your body in the correct zone for weight loss.
Eating 20-30 grams of carbs per meal will kick you out of your IF Ketosis.
I eat 20-30 grams per day.
This is not speculation. Regardless of what I do, I research it to death.
My A1C dropped from 5,9 in February of 2019 to 5.7 in July of ‘19, to 5.3 in January of ‘20.
There have been several small studies done that show that the Keto diet will reverse type 2 diabetes in many cases

True but genetics play a huge role too My triglycerides are high. Certain foods increase triglycerides etc. egg yolks for one. I’ve been eating egg whites since finding that out. I’m making changes but there are always other factors. You’ll never beat genetics. If it was just food choices my dad should have been a diabetic long ago yet he never when tested exceeded a reading over 6 A1c

Genetics just mean that you have to be even more strict on proper nutrition.Learning exactly what proper nutrition means is a huge part of the equation as well. Because of your genetic back ground you may do better on certain foods or eating schedules than on others.

So many project their circumstances on others as being the only way and it’s not.
15-20 years ago a friend recommended a book about ketosis and at the time I was slightly over weight with no health problems. He recommended as a way to lose weight.
I asked my endocrinologist a ton of questions the other day. I did forget one I’ll ask next time. I’ve read that type 2 is an auto immune disease I can’t find anything to back that up however.
We went over my diet and changes I’ve been making already and more changes in the future. I’d already cut a lot of carbs out and focused on salmon/fish and griddled veggies more so than not. Lots of griddled okra veggie mixes.
One thing often overlooked is portion size. It pretty bad to overeat healthy food too.

Buy produce by the pound rather than pre packaged with a money making KETO label. I can go to the dollar store and buy 6 ounces of 100% coconut oil for $1. The same 100% coconut oil packaged as MCT KETO costs about 6 times as much in the diet -organic section at Walmart. Pre packaged Broccoli florets cost nearly twice what they cost by the pound if I bag them myself. I could eat healthy for a week on less than $10 or about what one fast food meal costs. I could get enough rice,black beans,tuna,eggs and cabbage for a week of eating for around $10.

Eat around the edge of the store, for the most part. Ignore 99.375% of the the horrible chit in the middle.
Making lifestyle changes is tough but doable. Takes commitment after figuring out what exactly to eat and when.

It would end up as useless globs (imagine bacon fat floating in a pot of water). To get around this problem, the body packages cholesterol and other lipids into minuscule protein-covered particles that mix easily with blood. These tiny particles, called lipoproteins (lipid plus protein), move cholesterol and other fats throughout the body. Cholesterol and other lipids circulate in the bloodstream in several different forms. Of these, the one that gets the most attention is low-density lipoprotein— better known as LDL, or "bad" cholesterol. But lipoproteins come in a range of shapes and sizes, and each type has its own tasks. They also morph from one form into another. These are the five main types: Chylomicrons are very large particles that mainly carry triglycerides (fatty acids from your food). They are made in the digestive system and so are influenced by what you eat. Very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) particles also carry triglycerides to tissues. But they are made by the liver. As the body's cells extract fatty acids from VLDLs, the particles turn into intermediate density lipoproteins, and, with further extraction, into LDL particles. Intermediate-density lipoprotein (IDL) particles form as VLDLs give up their fatty acids. Some are removed rapidly by the liver, and some are changed into low-density lipoproteins. Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) particles are even richer in pure cholesterol, since most of the triglycerides they carried are gone. LDL is known as "bad" cholesterol because it delivers cholesterol to tissues and is strongly associated with the buildup of artery-clogging plaque. David I guess I misunderstood what he was saying then. My numbers last spring we’re once again very high which was no surprise as I had spent a days on end eating fast food while taking dad to the many different dr appointments. His favorite foods so we ate it. After my high cholesterol counts this past spring. I started eating healthier I’d say 90% of what was posted i eat. My numbers were actually higher the other day. Like James said heck I spend at least 3 times on food than what I used to. Fast food no more is except a half a biscuit sausage egg cheese in the mornings. That has since changed to egg whites turkey sausage and veggies every morning. Like my wife said. I have a double whammy so I’m really trying to figure it out. Another question. Drinking liquor. Jack over ice basically. Yea or nay. I love bloody Mary’s but too much salt so I’m not doing that.
