Google Piriformis stretches and do that a few times a day. I had it bad when I was doing a lot of triathlons to the point riding in a car sucked. Those stretches over time made mine disappear. I did the inversion table as well and it helped a little but nothing like stretching.

Those pop open heat straps they sell off the shelf in the pharmacy. Heat is my best friend along with Advil. I have a Tens unit that helps sometimes. But the very best help has been therapy to strengthen my stomach core.

Inversion table and TENS unit. Order a TENS off Amazon for 30-40 bucks don't go to the drugstore they charge way too much for them.
And the piriformis stretches.

Take your wallet and put it in your front pocket. sleep with a pillow between your knees. I had trouble with mine for yrs and starting doing those two things and have not had issues since.

x2 on both of these. Really made a big difference. Get a leg pillow that has a strap to hold it in place.

Yes I have moved the wallet to front pocket for now. Should I keep it there even after the nerve pain is gone. The only time it is in any pocket (back pocket normally) when I'm in the car/truck or out in a store or somewhere. At work it lives on the desk beside my CCW and at home on the kitchen table or coffee table.. Would a pillow in my office chair help. I work as a steel detailer for PEMB's so I ride a desk chair 8+ hours a day. I must ad mint I need to lose some weight also.

Save yourself a lot of time and PAIN 1. Go to your dr and get a referral for an MRI and an appointment to see Dr Sean Omally at the Brain and Spine center in alabaster 2. Dr. Omally will get you a spinal steroid shot set up if your MRI shows a pinched nerve (it will if you have sciatic nerve pain)
The steroid shot you get at the dr will wear off way to soon for your back to heal, but will help until you get the spinal shot

Take the steroids it will help with the inflammation and could help. If it is radiculopathy of the sciatic then something is inflamed and impending or touching the nerve Causing your hip/leg symptoms. The muscle relaxers off pain meds won’t help if it is neurological.

I have to do yoga about 3 times a week or mine will hurt. I was so bad before the yoga that I got 2 injections every 3 months. Lots of different issues can cause sciatic nerve pain. You can google self diagnosis of sciatic pain and do different movements that will help you diagnose specific issues. You can tell by what causes more or less pain when moving different ways. Then you do certain stretch exercises as therapy.
I do the yoga every other day or so but I have to lightly stretch every day or I will start tightening up and having pain. A lot of mine was caused by several years of repetitive movement in work situations which causes certain muscles to be over worked and others under worked. The resulting imbalance of strength caused me all kinds of compounding issues.

Like General said - piriformis stretch.
Also hamstring stretches.
And this one will hurt but it works wonders: mash the heck out of that sciatic nerve in the side of you hip. Either get someone to jam their elbow in it while you are laying on your side and hold it there for several minutes, or try to balance all of your weight on it with a baseball. That will calm it down. And use in conjunction with piriformis stretch.
