I was just doing some word/phrase specific Bible study on "confidence". Are we (am I) confident that God is in control and that his nature will always be revealed in His grace, love, mercy and justice for us?
Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16 ESV

I was thinking about this today while driving from one corner of the state to the other.
We worry about the outcome of this or that. We say things we are going to do if this happens or if that happens. We foreshadow the take over of our country by the forces of evil.
We as human beings feel like we need to be in control of things as much as we can and it causes stress, anxiety and fear.
I am guilty of all of those things, however all I can do tomorrow is to go and vote my conscience, and if we are truly believers that God is almighty, He is in control, He knows everything, and He is just, then we should just stand fast in our faith and understand that whatever happens is in God's plan.
So if someone aims a gun at you all drugged up, and says you gonna die, you just gonna say "Thank you Lord, I'm coming to see ya!!!!!"?????

Nice thread Irish Guy - even better than some of your cooking
God is in control- to often I try to grab the wheel - my plan compared to Gods plan always stinks
I hav been in so many hard situations - and he always delivers me - my faith should hv grown tremendously but it is still small. I hav been so very blessed and I had the greatest of role models live it right in front of me when I was growing up
God has always and will always be in control - I just sometimes don’t trust him enough but I try to work on that
Persist
Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self We need prayer for our country now more than ever

God is absolutely in control. Nothing surprises Him, and His ways are not our ways. God allows good things to happen to us, as well as the democrats...
“...He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” Matthew 5:45 NIV
I can’t say that I understand why He allows things like abortion clinics to continue to operate. But I do know that God is in control, and I accept that. I reckon it has to do with His sovereignty. Again, something I don’t fully understand. But that’s ok. I’ve got faith in Him, and that’s all I need. While I don’t know what’ll happen tomorrow, I do know that when my number is called I’ll run to my Lord Jesus and spend eternity in His presence. My final chapter has already been written by the living God, who is fully in control of this ball of dirt we live on.

Dan, God being sovereign and a person wanting to defend their life (for themselves or for their family) aren't mutually exclusive. Don't confuse not wanting to be murdered with a lack of assurance in where believers are going in eternity.
Over the years on Aldeer you have made it crystal clear your contempt for matters of the Christian faith. No need to further debate your atheist views which fall woefully short of understanding. Since you don't believe, which is your choice or calling or whatever, no need to stir up anything on a post specifically speaking to things of God and faith. Unless you simply enjoy the mockery. This is regarding your post you just edited.

Straycat,
“atheist ” do not debate religion, rejectors do. Point taken on rejectors, you're correct, yet atheists do indeed debate and push their humanistic beliefs which is actually their "religion". Either way I butted in on Dan's comment to Irishguy. Still stand by my statements although unsolicited.

Thank you for posting.
Our greatest failure as humans is to think we are in control.
HE is in control. I posted it as much for myself as anyone. We worry too much about things we can't control. And the reason we do is vanity.

Trusting in God's plan doesn't mean that you live by faith alone. It just means that you trust God with the big picture. If he designed the entire universe, surely he can handle the outcome of an election in a tiny country on a tiny rock floating through space some where in the backwoods of a galaxy somewhere...

Persist I struggle with it as well. It's our egos and our vanity that makes us want to control things we can't control. I think us men are worse than women at it sometimes. Women want to control men and men want to control the universe.

As fallible humans, do we have free will or bound will? We have free will, but that doesn't mean that our actions will affect an outcome that we desire.

Straycat,
Most folk accept their claim as “atheist” at face value because supposedly we don’t know the heart. I truly believe most of those are rejecting the existence of God. I say this because after world travels and exposure to many folk I have run across people that I really believe God has not revealed himself to these people, they have no emotion on the subject, they are NOT OFFENDED in any sense of the topic of God, and don’t debate whatsoever. Its literally like you were talking about Santa Claus. You get no sense of “atheism” as a religion from these types. The funniest part about my encounters with these true atheists is each and every one of them had a great demeanor, were productive in the community, selfless, giving people.
