If that’s the case, what did jumping out accomplish other than incurring trade fees on both the out and the in for themselves and their clients. They guessed it would drop and they missed. They guessed right last time and guessed wrong this time. If they are right when they jump out and it goes down, then they are just as wrong when the jump out and it goes up. Historically trying to time the market has failed.

The market no longer moves based on the intrinsic metrics, balance sheets, performance, leadership and values behind the companies listed anymore. It is all about emotion, hype, and institutional investors and brokerage houses manipulating the volumes and prices of certain market segments by jumping in an out, taking profits, forcing the drop then re-investing. Rinse, repeat, rinse repeat.

Can't say about Aldeer experts , however, I know a financial planner in Scottsboro who did. He also yanked $ out back in Jan the day of all time high and poured it back in about the time it was at it's lowest in March. My wife has an account with him, she thinks he's a genius , I'll not argue the point.

Hate to ruin a good story, but the DOW and S&P 500 peaked in mid-Feb, not January. The NASDAQ hit its all-time high in August. I’m sure he’s done well all-the-same.

No trade fees. There's a buy in minimum with floating management fee. What does it matter if they are back where it was a couple months ago? We haven't lost , but were in a good position in case the market didn't like the election results. They have a strong record dating well before Trump was elected. My daughter also has a account opened in '11 and it's done very well.

You are correct, it did go up about 150 points a few weeks after mid Jan. Markets did move very slightly up over a few weeks after mid Jan. when the Dems were down playing the virus, Nancy dancing in China town, Fauci saying masks don't help and all. We all know what happened shortly afterwards.

I’m watching all of my investment accounts weekly. I’ve got a % I’m looking for (drop in value). Once it hits that’s number I’ll divest and leave it in the account as cash. As long as that money stays in the account I won’t be hit with taxes or penalties. In my opinion this all hinges on the 2 senate races in Georgia. The markets like gridlock (Republican senate and democratic president or visa versa) it creates stability because no BIG changes can really take place). This has been proven time after time. If we lose the senate and they get away with stealing the Oval Office we will see a pretty big market change. There’s a very good chance I convert to cash the week before that runoff election.

It’s almost impossible to time the market and make money but this is a situation we normally don’t see. I’ll take a chance at losing a couple % points in growth to hedge against 10+ points in loss. For the record I do have a finance degree but haven’t been in that industry in almost 20 years.

Josh, sounds like a plan and you are spot on about " this is a situation we don't normally see."

I have been writing down my numbers since Election day. Up $30,000ish since Nov 3. Up almost $5,000 yesterday. So far so good. That is in my 403.

Mine's up bigly too since the election and I'm in fairly moderate funds. Let's hope Joe and the Ho lets us keep some of it.
