I’m looking for a cheap pair, something compact like a 10x42. Vortex, bushnell etc...

I wouldn't describe 10x42 as a compact binocular. If you're looking for something to use in the woods I suggest an 8x30 or 8x32 binocular. Unless you are bird watching, a 10x42 will be bulky and have a small FOV which is not good for use in the woods.
