Well, if he doesn’t come back, at least we know he has that legacy.

Long story short..... He posted something he shouldn’t have, got reprimanded, got mad and left. That’s all on him.

So 257's legacy is getting several to indirectly support BLM? Tito's supports BLM.

They like to be able to hide in the treetops......A blown down treetop on the edge of a little creek branch is money....I think the bucks like to lay there and use the air flow to smell things up and down the creek bottom. We commonly track then back to blowdowns......Using a chainsaw to drop them on purpose is just trying to entice them to bed in a certain area......sanctuary

Because some people can’t help but argue about the methods others use to attract, hold and benefit deer herds. Of course if the methods include discing away you topsoil the currently MIA member has no problem with it.

Oh, my bad…..I misunderstood you…….I think the reason they aren’t more hardcore discussions has something to do with rebuilding the cylinder or valve seals being very cheap and easy. the problem would be if you got a busted piston skirt or crankshaft issue. any fragments of metal in the case and it could be a big job. personally id rather do piston rings than valves anyways smile

If I was looking for a serious discussion on deer hunting, I would check out the serious deer talk forum. General is for everything else, where almost anything goes.

Bunny , that's the point , there isn't much hard core deer management or killin' discussion in the serious forum either.

I agree with 2dogs……If I’m being straight forward about it…..I think the biggest reason is because we don’t have enough new people coming in……All of the folks who have been here for so long have discussed everything to the point of “corn”……need new personalities who haven’t talked about corn before who want to learn…..Need new ideas as well

Their sanctuary?

On the note of "new ideas"......there is nothing wrong with discussing the possibility of there being smarter ways to manage the lands of the state to get more of a multiple use sustainability situation going on.....I bring up cattle because its where I see a possibility of getting two uses out of the same land.....I think we are smart enough to be able to raise cattle and wildlife on the same parcels of land.....the end result of accomplishing that is good for errbody. We talk an awful lot about changing rules and such regarding hunting but if you look at an aerial picture of Alabama.....one of the biggest issues we have is the loss of good wildlife habitat in some of the most prime areas.....Make more deer.... smile

I’ve hunted 200 hundred acres of pasture with 40 acres of hardwoods in the SE corner for years. No it is practically impossible to have a greenfield with the cattle but having the cattle is very beneficial to my hunting success at this spot. Plus having some of the most productive areas of producing big bucks in South Montgomery county helps.

Here is my 2 cents after reading these comments. There are lots of people here. A lot of people reading but not posting. No one wants to post because there are a few locals that live on here constantly and do nothing but bash and act like smart asses to anyone that comes to talk. 257 was a prime example of a smart ass that did nothing but troll everyone. Just an a1 smart ass. If yall want the site to grow or the people on the sidelines to discuss, people need to learn how to have manners and respect. Without that, why would people want to come here and talk? We have lives. We dont have time to come here to get treated like crap by a few guys that dont have a life and get enjoyment outtta being a dick. I quit posting. Now i just read cause im not gonna waste my time talking to guys that just want to act like a jerk. I come here every few days and read for minute and leave. Sure i have plenty to discuss but that ended when i see the way this place works. A few bad apples can ruin a place.

I've been down there a few times here lately below Snowdon /Chambers road.....One was on a deer a bow hunter shot twice.....It went through a neighboring property that he had permission to track on.....While we were tracking through it he started telling me that the property was an old cattle farm that the people just abandoned.....Sheeww buddy let me tell you it was some FINE hunting......Someone could maintain that same type habitat WITH cattle if they just rotated them around enough to let let each unit rest and rebound......Much of it would be in very wildlife friendly conditions....There's conveniently ponds everywhere too
