Best hunt of the year so far for me. Brought my bow out l, sat on a little hardwood knoll I knew had been tore up with rubs last year, and blind grunted up a bachelor group that had a really nice mature 8 point with them. I was at full draw and he was just about to hit my 30 yard window and made a turn at the last second walking away. I pulled out all the tricks on him, snort wheezed, grunted some more, but he wouldn't commit to coming over. I got to watch this deer make at least three scrapes and smack around a half dozen trees he was so pissed off at me. One of his satellite spikes came over to investigate at about 10 yards and I had to bear hug my bow with frozen hands for about 15minutes while I watched big boy in the back at 60.
After about 45 minutes and the spike easing off I thought big boy and his buddy were going to feed my way, but something off in the distance spooked the lead one and they bounded off.

Was a good morning for me. I hunted before work. Was late getting to my spot and already had deer out. Was a good 8pt on the treeline when I walked in but he eased off before I could kneel down and get a shot off. About the same time a group of 6 does and a buck behind them ran behind me across the field. All within 5 minutes of me walking into the spot and being about 10ft from the ladder stand. When. They ran off I went ahead and got into the ladder stand and within 30 minutes a 6pt came out. Shot him with the 45-70. Gutted and skinned and hanging on the skid steer at our shop now.  all without being late for work. Deer are out today boys.

Those damn cell cams have been sending me pictures all morning with some nice bucks standing there in broad daylight and I’m stuck trying to make a dollar
