It's really hard to beat a set of Bilsteins. Don't Z71's come factory with Bilsteins? Seems like I've heard that, but don't know if it's true.

I’ve had several sets of bilsteins on several different trucks. All of those were much better than factory. I just had some foxes put on my F250 and I can’t tell if they are better than Bilsteins.

so, related question...............how exactly do you know when "it's time"? Aside from just doing it at set intervals, what are the noticeable symptoms that it's needed?

Back in the 90's that was one of the "upgrades" that stepping up to a Z-71 would get you.

It's really hard to beat a set of Bilsteins. Having Bilsteins on my Jeep, I would go with Rancho. With Bilsteins not only do you feel the quarter you just ran over in the middle of the road, but you can tell if it's heads or tails.
