Who’s to say he wasn’t wearing a legal hat when he shot the deer? I’ve got similar hats I wear to and from but not while hunting. Also been known to wear a vest (on public land).

I confess that it made me Google where that WMA is laugh grin

I don't guess I realized it was that close to me.

Being in Anniston I am sure you have hunted Choccolocco a lot. Cahaba is a lot like it. The easy access points are hammered with traffic pretty good. The southern side of the WMA is all highwalls and steep terrain. You have to really want to shoot a deer to hunt that area.

I sorta surmised that from a little bit of research, very proximal to the big population centers of Bham and Tuscaloosa (making it the Logan Martin of the WMA world grin). Sounds like Chocco to me....avoid the gated roads like the plague!

That is what I was thinking. If I killed a big buck on public I'd go over and take my picture next to a different WMA sign. Those interwebs can lead to a ton of traffic.

20 yrs ago someone started a website for it and just so happened there were several good deer killed that year. You could definitely see the effects of that in the next few years. Now it seems there’s one or two wma’s that get all the attention each year. From the amount of trucks out here today looks like it’s coming again! I’m sure there’s plenty of good deer killed on all of them but most people just prefer to lay low.

And I was gonna say that picture is clearly photoshopped. That deer had to come from choccoloco!
