Ammo is cheap and plentiful. Go shoot till yah get what yah want.gun Of the two bullets I would choose the American Whitetail.

Bullets don't rise when fired. They stay on the direct trajectory in which they are fired until loss of velocity and drag cause the bullet to start dropping. The "rise" effect is because the scope is mounted above the bore of the rifle and the Zero point is the point in which the bullet trajectory and the scope plain cross..
So in most cases the bullet impact at 50 yards will vary depending on how high the scope is above the bore. The close the scope to the bore the better you will be.

Bullets start dropping the moment they leave the barrel.

This thing called gravity...

Alan! Wes! Stop with the common sense. Velocity trajectory energy on ammo boxes is there to let you cuss it after shooting. Chronographs don't lie. I'd not sight one in@300 til I had a very clear idea@100.

A 165 fusion bullet in 308 Winchester caliber will be blown .75” at 100 yards with a 10 mph wind at 90 degree angle to you barrel. And at 300 yards it’s 7.5” off it mark. That’s according to my ballistics AE program. If possible always sight in with the wind directly at your back or your face, so the wind can’t push it left or right.

Actually, bullets do rise when the leave the barrel, because the barrel is pointed upward slightly.
Yes gravity is pulling it down, but generally somewhere 100-150ish yards depending on your zero, the upward travel levels out then the bullet starts descending.
Think about a quarterback throwing a football. He's throwing it upward to if he wants a deep pass. the ball goes up then starts falling.
A bullet does the same thing when fired. Your scope is mounted level or at a slight downward angle. The bullet will cross the scopes line of sight twice, once around 50-75 yards, again, depending on your zero and again at your zero distance.

All that said, it's been my experience dead on at 50 yards is about 1.5" high at 100 yards for most standard calibers.
