We've been on sites before where we mounted the 10 foot fiberglass poles with orange flags on them on our equipment. That way you'd know where to start digging if one sank completely out of sight. I had a old time equipment operator tell me that they lost a ton of equipment when they originally drained the marsh and built Brookley Field down in Mobile. That picture is why you never, ever leave a $175K piece of equipment in a low spot at the end of the day. You always move your equipment to highest ground around at the end of the day, if you're smart.

I think there is a motor grader and a pan in the old "racetrack" off 82 between Tuscaloosa and Gordo (where the peanut guy sets up).

Used to drive by there daily and the trees finally overtook it.I think the people doing it ran out of money. Always wondered why they didnt at least sell the equipment...

It looks like the owner of that equipment needs a CH - 47D to get it unstuck.

Is that the government coming to help?

There’s a few doziers and track hoes at the bottom of the old Finley inert dump. Probably a dump truck or two also

I can tell you this. If that was in FL, the FDEP wuold be helping you for sure. They'd be providing you with help in the form of big incentives to get your equipment out, by iightening up your wallet very very large fines, on a daily basis, for being within a wetland buffer zone.

yeah..yeah, that's it, Selma is a "wetlands buffer zone"...I like it. that must be the new name for a swamp.

We work with heavy equipent at the steel plant in Decatur. We have flipped 60 ton dump trucks and run 120 ton Kress haulers into a swamp. They have cranes and equipment that can get this stuff out assuming there is a good road and solid ground around it. Its not cheap but should be cheaper than losing that equipment. They may think it will be fine until dryer weather or maybe insurance money, I dont know. Ive seen much bigger equipment dealt with so there are options if you have the money.
