The last two weeks of January have for many years been my time. No honey dos, no chore lists, no wife, no job, no nobody. no nothing except me in the woods by myself hunting pretty much all day for two weeks. Well this year what was supposed to be a father/son hunting trip somehow morphed into father/son/11 year old grandaughter, wife and mother for four days in the peak of rut trip. So we spent 4 awesome days doing absolutely everything you are not supposed to do .Lots of ride arounds, digging arrowheads, shooting many rounds generally raising heck. I will admit that as we drove around and I saw all the big running tracks in the road, freshened scrapes, rubs, etc .I had a few moments I really wished I was hunting but would not have traded the time with my son/grandaughter for anything because they live in California and we see them way to little. Anyway, got everyone headed home this morning, it was raining on and off and decided to hop in my new box about 9;30. He followed two does across a lane at about 10;00, My biggest ever and the perfect end to a great 5 days.
