Built this today to try on my property. I haven’t had good luck with getting deer to come to the feeders just a couple does. My neighbors are feeding out of troughs and ally have good bucks hanging around so I’m gonna give it a try. Got it so I can feed about anything that has fur feathers or fly’s

I can tell you now... (just trying to save you some headache) you dont have enough roof overhang on the ends, your feed is going to stay wet in the winter. And also with such little roof overhang, the wood in the bottom is going to saturate as well.

Turkeys be damned.

. That is the jungle gym for the raccoons to play on while eating the corn.

That does look good, I'm with teamduckdown, it will probably need a little more drop and overhang. One question, do you have hogs on your property?

That's a good feed bunk but you need more overhang on the roof

You install those little side boxes as a "helper step" for the hogs to use when they climb up in there to stand in your feed while feasting and crapping all over the place? Lip on feed box needs to be at least 32" to stop most hogs from getting in it. A big hog will still be able to get some out of it but that height will stop a high percentage of them from getting more than a bite or two around the edges of the walls.

Looks good. I love a trough feeder myself mainly because I feed rice bran a lot. Good spot to collect some sheds when they drop also.

Looks great, my corn doesn’t stay in the feeder long enough to get wet. Y’all need to lay off the does.

I like Jiffy cornbread.

A friend told me he would mix Goldan Marlon in the with the root beer and the raccoons would be there in the morning. Being up high hopefully deer can’t get to it.

Curious, because I've never used a trough. Do you drill holes in the bottom for drainage for any rain that gets in?

Looks great. I'd have not thought about the roof overhang but that makes sense.

My boy said daddy you need something to feed the birds so with his idea we built something for put bird feed for the birds. I don’t know if I’m gonna do it or not but the small boxes on that one side I was thinking about putting a mineral or something like that in there

I’m gonna skirt the sides more as soon as I can get my hands on some more tin. I had that laying around so I went ahead with it. No hogs on the property thank god but if coons fill it up then me and my boys will have some fun blasting there asses. I’m gonna take it up this weekend and set it up so the deer and turkeys will get used to it.

Let it sit outside for a few weeks before you move it to the area you want it in. If I put a feeder made with treated lunber out as soon as I build it deer wont touch it for weeks. If I build it and leave it in the driveway for a monthbor so they go to it immediately. It must have to so with the treatment chemicals.
