I can’t hear a Turkey drumming because I’m almost deaf but I can use Walkers hearing device and hear it I can hear when the spit.....I think the drumming is in the range of sound where my hearing is bad
When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself The older I get the better I used to be

I don’t know how some people say they can’t/have never been able to hear a turkey drumming in the woods. I’ve got a pet turkey in a pen 75yds from the house and I’m sitting in the living room and can hear him drumming through the closed windows.
Some gobblers simply drum louder than others. At times, I’ve barely heard them drum while watching them in gun range. Other times, it’s surprisingly far. More the former for me.

I can't hear it. Never have been able to. My hearing is pretty good as fair as I know and I'm not tone deaf at all.
to me - it’s easier to hear it if he gobbles first

I have tough time distinguishing drumming , But when I hear one spit I almost throw my gun up in the air if they close.

I would think that if you took a hearing test, you will find that your low frequency hearing is bad. I don't know how that would happen; might have just been born that way. I have lost all of my high frequency hearing. I don't hear anything but the key hitting on the first few keys of a piano. But my low frequency is still ok, and I believe that a turkey drumming is the lowest frequency sound in nature.

Many years ago, I had one coming in not gobbling. Just drumming First heard him about 120 yards out. In 12 I had one that didn't spit before drumming, I could here him but couldn't figure out what that racket was. Until I realized what it actually was.
