Kind of like the way a rattle snake rattling will surround you when you’re close. I’m hard of hearing but a gobbling and drumming turkey are easy for me to hear.

I haven't heard it in the wild yet, but I can definitely hear it on video. If your speakers don't have any ability to prouce bass, like a cell phone or small computer speakers, the drumming won't come through. I heard it when I played it on my home theater with a big subwoofer. "WOOOMPFF" is about it

So I did a little hearing test today. I watched a Youtube video of a turkey drumming with and without noise cancelling headphones.

Without the headphones I can hear him spit, watch his feathers ruffle, but CANNOT hear the drumming.

With noise cancelling headphones I CAN definitely hear the drumming.

Next experiment will be with walker's game ear headphones, but I need to find them.

Connect your phone to your vehicles radio via Bluetooth or Auxiliary cable. Open the below video, fast forward to the second half of the video, and turn your speakers up. Listening for it on your phone won’t work because your phone speakers won’t play that frequency. I share this video to people who have never heard it so they can.

Just tried that in my truck....it's got the "premium" sound system, for what it's worth.......................................nothing. I also tried it on my computer using a $300 set of noise-cancelling headphones...also nothing. I've resigned myself to the fact that I simply can't hear that frequency

Me too gomer, it sucks because I remember when I could hear it, and it's one of the most awesome sounds in nature.

I just had a hearing test, and I cant remember the exact numbers, but low frequencies are history.

I hear it fine. In fact, I perk up when I hear somebody's car bass turned up really loud way off and then I'm disappointed when I figure out it is a radio and not a turkey. I've had that happen more than a few times in Perry County.

I can’t hear drumming at all. Seems like every hunting buddy I have can hear them at 150 yards drumming. Every time they ask “you hear him?”. I always say Hell No.

I can’t hear them walking in the leaves either.

I can still hear a gobble just fine so I try to make him gobble before he in in eyesight. It’s
frustrating.
