Missouri shuts down hunting daily at 1:00 pm. I’d be ok with that too. That's a no for me. Big percentage of birds I have killed have been in the afternoon.

I too have killed many a bird in the afternoon. You can always hunt the WMA if you want those times, or just quit at 1 pm and go home. God Bless, David B.

^^^^ Good question 257
I hav had some dang tuff hunts in afternoon w no bird to show for it and I am just as impressed if somebody kills one in afternoon or morning - I hav only heard that on this site. Heck - you got to be pretty tuff to go in afternoon where I hunt - usually no gobbles heard and More times than not no turkey killed and it lot hotter and more mosquitoes
I hardly go in afternoon any more due to family - mainly go morning which is usually lot more exciting than afternoon
Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self We need prayer for our country now more than ever

Why is killing a turkey in the afternoon a sin? Some claim it’s to easy, that they a more vulnerable, or your shooting them under the roost.... So season starts March 12th right?

Afternoon has always been way more of a kick in the nuts - way hotter - way harder - no gobbling
Morning is easy if turkey gobbles - woods coming alive - motivational - heck - anybody can hunt a gobbling turkey in the morning If I hunt afternoon - I hunt an area I think they may want to be which is generally a guess when u hunt timber cause u can’t glass them from a distance - very seldom hav i hunted around a roost tree - I got to b really pissed off at one to do that and hunting Marengo county - you take it how u can get it

Getting one fired up about an hour before flyup is fun. I’ve killed some at nearly dark gobbling and lonely. I don’t see the issue with it.

What's the damn difference? A bird a day. Morning or afternoon. Its all the same. 1 bird. Don't matter what part of the day it's killed in.

Chucky gonna say he's giving them 1/2 the day to breed. Don't turkeys get busiest in the AM? Shouldn't they shut down AM hunting ? All it is is control freak throwing his authority around. Next thing we'll have to social distance if you aren't hunting solo.

The biggest failure in all the shifting will be the lack of creating a southern zone. That truly shows the ignorance of the people suggesting and making decisions. I call it , "smart people doing stupid s**t." The northern 1/3 of the state having deer season extended into Feb. comes to mind.

The later they push it back the more folks south of Montgomery are getting screwed, I wander how many on this board actually turkey hunt . I think they should have different start dates like for dove season, except in reverse. Why is killing a turkey in the afternoon a sin? . It isn't a sin, just like hunting in the fall. It is all about one group telling another group how to hunt. Tdog93, it is harder to hunt them in the afternoon, you actually have to know the woods and predict where the turkeys are going to roost. You're right, the turkeys aren't just coming in gobbling and strutting and having a good ol time.

At least with the February extension, I can understand how complicated that would be trying to satisfy all the little pockets of late rut scattered around north bama. With turkeys, it’s as simple as drawing a line across the state at Montgomery.

Down to 4 birds ---- not starting until the 25th ---- no decoys until after the first 10 days ---- I'm ok with no decoys, until last year, I had never used them much anyway, just a pain to carry that mess. 4 birds for the year are only hurting those that know how to hunt, it isn't hurting the ones that are just learning, the ones that don't have a lot of turkeys anyway on their property and the ones that are outlaws. Well, I've seen duck populations go down, we went from killing 10 blue bills a day to 4 for several years, now back up to 6. I've seen it where only 1 redhead a day. That 25th is the worst part.

Turkey 247 - different times for different zones like u and Davey mention make hole lot of sense instead of a big push back for entire state
There are lot of times where I hunt that they henned up big time on 3/20 - earlier start date make lot of sense in bottom half of state - if they would do that I would trade off to a shorter season in heart beat for earlier start date
