I've broken this theory numerous times. I've killed a limit in the same field numerous times when it seemed there was only one turkey there. last year I killed the only turkey gobbling in a block and after I shot him.. a group of 5 three year olds (if they were all the same) came in and my wife shot one. the next time in there they all gobbled and none of them gobbled until I killed the boss. just the way it works
