It is high. It wont go down anytime soon. From what I understand it’s not. The lumber industry hasn’t had a price increase in twelve years. So they have a huge one when money is cheap and home builders can’t build them fast enough. The 2,600 sf house that we were planning on building is 30 to 40 % higher than it was a year ago. The exact same new house our daughter bought four years ago is now selling 90k more in the same neighborhood.

I heard one economist say that lumber prices would crash by this fall and gasoline would be on the way to out of sight. Sounds about right.

There are signs that prices have leveled off and we may see some market retraction by the end of summer. Will we see $6.95 for a sheet of OSB anytime soon? I doubt it.
