It is high. It wont go down anytime soon. yup. i have to replace a subfloor in my mom house.. i know this is not "standard" subfloor but its what she could afford

Do you blame them? I mean really if you owned a business and people kept buying your product even after going up 300%, 400% why would you drop the price. Laugh at all of us idiots all the way to the bank. You should be blaming everyone that keeps buying it, keeps building homes. Stop buying all over then it will go down.

One big difference between now and the last recession is the type of mortgage. 15-20 years ago, folks were getting into ARM loans to buy houses they couldn't normally afford. I don't think that is the case right now. Yes, housing prices are over inflated so their value will go down when the economy hits the skids and interest rates are nearing double digits. So unless someone HAS to sell, they will be able to hold their assets until a recovery. People were trapped 15 years ago when their rates reset after 5 years and they couldn't afford the higher payment and their home values were less than they owed.
