Oh yeah, I have heard them called that too. I just know every one we have ever put out got slammed by a yellowfin.

Summer time in Venice the weather is more predictable, but the tuna fishing is not. Like mentioned already there are times in the summer when there is not a tuna caught for days at a time, then all of a sudden they will be on fire. I have been twice when the fishing was off. I went once in early December and the weather was harsh, we caught fish, but it was hard fishing when you can't stand up.

I would highly recommend overnight with the intimidator out of OB. I have had a blast on those trips, but its definitely work fishing for that long. One of the trips we absolutely had the boat full of fish and came home several hours early. Another trip we fished hard through the night and only had 1 blackfin to show for it, but at day light the next morning the tuna started busting the surface and we caught several on kites as fast as we could get them in.

I will be the 4th person to recommend Intimidator Sportfishing Inc. owned/operated by Capt. Johnny Greene. Overnight and 3 day trips are a blast and the fishing and pace of the entire trip is tuned to perfection. The crew cooks for you on overnight and 3 day trips, they will do tacos, boston butts, steaks, chicken thighs, pork chops, and all the fixins. You can't go hungry on that boat! Fishing is also phenomenal. Johnny has been fishing since 1996 and has it all figured out to the tee.
