Looking for input and recommendations of brands and experience with atv pull behind rough cut brush hogs. Thinking of adding one to my Arsenal but never really had experience with them. Thanks

Very handy. Swisher RoughCut 44 is what I have. I think it is an 11.5hp motor, but it is an older model.

experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

I have an old Bush Hog brand GT42. Haven't had it long but it is handy if you have small brush and briars to clear. It's not the best on field grass but if you go slow and make two passes it will do the job.

Two or three push mowers tied together and tied to the back of the fourwheeler and there you go.

I had a swisher ATV Bush hog. It was great. If you could buy one used I think youd be happy.

Even new I think it is a good investment. Very sellable. I sold mine after using it for years easily. Easy to maintain and work on as well.

I have a DR 44’’ cut. Had Swisher and the DR is hands down the winner. It’s built WAY heavier than the Swisher. 17HP Kawasaki on this one
It doesn’t have a stump jumper like the Swisher but I’ve never had any issues stalling it out and I’ve cut some stuff I should have never tried
With all this said I got a good deal on this one used but would not buy one new (3k) plus. You can get into a small tractor for that money.

I have used a swisher rough cut which is the same as the bush hog one. I had to do some fab work on it for the club member who owns it. I thought the connection arm from the brush cutter to the ATV needed to be more sturdy. And keeping the wheels on it was entertaining at times. But beyond that, it was pretty handy.

I would second the DR model though. I had one of their original brush mowers, with just an 8hp engine, and that thing would cut just about anything you could get it over.

However neither hold a candle to a subcompact tractor with a 4 foot bush hog or flail mower on the back.

Hopefully I can find me a decent condition used one. I just can’t seem to make myself bite the bullet on a new one. They are pricey.

It does not do the exact same thing as cutting I guess - but it kind of does - I just sprayed 4 fields and killed the crap out of them

Sprayer went in back of my Polaris and I payed $350 for sprayer

Wish I had a plow now - gone pay my best friend to come plow and I will throw seed before good rain and drive over w Polaris - prob 3-5 weeks from now

You don't need a plow to plant the seed. I broadcast cereal grains and brassicas into standing beans last year and they came up really well.
