Several years ago had one to come in between me and a goblin turkey. He was close and those yellow eyes were staring me down.Had hopes of the Gobbler coming in so I didn’t shoot. The Gobbler shutup but I got him that afternoon.

Had one on camera a few years ago. Really wanted to kill him and do a full body mount but never saw him or had another picture on camera of him.

We have a black dominant trait in the gene pool of our coyotes around the house. When I first started trapping the first five yotes that I caught were black. I was more excited to catch a regular gray colored one lol

It must be a regional/location thing because several of you have stated they aren't rare, "I've killed two", etc...well if you asked me, I'd say they must be pretty dang rare because I'd venture to say I've been hunting as much or more than most folks the last 20 plus years in the state, and I have absolutely never seen one, nor have I had one on a game camera. I have hunted the counties of Barbour, Henry, Coffee, and Houston. What's funny is I haven't seen a black coyote, but I have seen a mountain lion in Eufaula behind Lakepoint Resort across from the old golf course.

Here’s one I caught that I thought was kinda unique…….There’s certainly a good deal of variations amongst them.

I had the same thing happen to me on a trip to TN. The turkey was almost in range when he suddenly went to putting. I yelped to try to settle him down and a black coyote came charging in on me. I pointed the gun at him when he was about 15 yds away and he changed direction in a hurry. I didn't drive to TN to shoot a coyote, so I let him go. The turkey never came back.

I think a white coyote is more rare than a black one. We had a solid white one on our place about 15 years ago. He was seen by 3 different people and nobody ever got a shot at him. He looked like a ghost going through the woods, and I really didn't know what it was when I first saw him. He disappeared after that season. I'm surprised he made it as long as he did; he would have had a hard time slipping up on anything.

I never pass a shot at a yote ...ever.

First one / coyote I ever saw was a black one. We were rabbit hunting on our farm . Beagles went into a big briar patch and struck a line. He came out the back side . I shot and hit him with a load of 6 shot but never slowed him up. We caught the dogs and moved on because we didn't want to run him. A couple of days later a friend was running his dogs on the neighbors place and his dogs ran and caught it. We were talking later and he said his dogs had caught a crippled black yote. We compared stories and decided it was the one I shot.

Had one at 40 yards a few years back. Didn’t know what it was at first glance. It stopped to scratch it’s ear and I let an arra loose. That dog levitated about 2 ft straight up. Dead opposite of how a deer drops. Arrow stuck in the tree behind it. I really wanted that one. It was very large too

Don't blame me for your bad decision-
