This deer was shot Tuesday morning. They jumped him Tuesday evening and again this morning around 10. The dogs went straight to him laid up dead with the meat still good

I hate to see one go to waste. Good job on the recovery.

John, was that deer shot in the leg or was that leg broke?

That was the entrance. The arrow stayed in him. It hit the liver and sliced his stomach. I'm guess the arrow glanced off the bone and went in. What it looked like to me anyway

That's two happy dogs. It's amazing to see how much they enjoy working to please the feller that feeds them. I like my Boykin but you can't beat a good cur dog in my opinion but I am partial to the Original Mt Curs. How do they line up to the German Shepards you grew up with?

I never tracked with German Sheppards but the ones I grew up were natural herding dogs and very aggressive guard dogs. They didn't play around with anyone up to no good. Muzz is part black mouth curr and part redbone. He's probably my once in a lifetime dog. Wish I had 10 more exactly like him. My other dog in the picture is a Catahoula. I got her from a retired game warden in Montana. He promised me she'd be the best dog I've ever had. She is right with Muzz, I couldn't ask for anything else out of her for such a young dog.

Most of the OMC's are very protective and don't play with strangers (human or other dogs) on the place when it comes to protecting kids and some adults. I was curious if you saw some of the same with the catahoula and black mouth. My brother has a German Shepard mix pup that comes from a cow dog line and it reminds me of the OMC's when it comes to protecting the house. It's a little more protective of the area than our curs but they were more straight forward attitude when a dog or stranger got around kids. The GS acts more by positioning itself vs straight up that's as far as you need to come attitude and grit.

Funny you say that but neither of my OMC’s have a mean bone in their body. My blackmouth Ids little more aggressive but not by much.

Well tracked two today, both doe. First one was barely grazed and we finally called it off. 2nd one was dang rough. Brisket shot we finally caught up to. I was exhausted so didn't take pictures worth a crap.

Well believe it or not the fellers neighbors shot the deer with a rifle. It crossed to his side and he tried to shoot her moving with a bow when he saw how bad hurt she was. After finding the deer he had also over compensated for her walking/running and hit her in the brisket. The neighbors told him if we found her that he could just keep her for the trouble. It all worked out atleast.
