If we're not hurting for meat, we leave the does alone. They might pull out a nice buck.

Depends , i f I'm meat hunting I kill the first DOE that enters the field and leave. Notice I didn't say first deer .

If I'm hunting a rack I set back and wait and shoot nothing else

I'm either meat hunting or rack hunting never both at the same time. You let the field fill up with deer then kill a doe at last light you educate ever deer in the field and the bucks you dont see in the edge of the woods watching the field

During the rut , noooooo does any time of the day

It’s way to easy to kill a doe in the woods for me to dirty up a patch by killing a doe on one.

We have a window from dec1-15 to shoot them on fields for those who shoot does. Thankfully We have a few hunters who don’t shoot them at all. I just don’t care to shoot the baby makers, but to each his own.

Been doing it for as long as I remember and don’t hurt a thing. Just don’t do it every time you go. Killing a couple does a year on a food plot is FAR less pressure than hunting a food plot 3 days a week without pulling the trigger. It’s about pressure, not killing.

If every time you went in a restaurant you somebody tote one, I don’t know about you but id find somewhere else to eat.

On a club i say Youth season let kids bust a few and then leave it alone.

I know a guy who has a dedicated weekend. He will invite several people to his place and then at a predetermined time he sends out a text asking if everyone has does out. If they do he gives the green light (early in the evening) and they shoot, get the deer and get out. He will have it cheesed up for a while prior to. They usually do it early in the season. After it’s over they bait it back up and get back out for a week or 2. They kill giants during rut.

I’ll whack a few during bow season in the woods. I can’t remember the last time I shot a doe with a rifle.

I shot a doe off a food plot last Saturday. There were 4 other does and a small 6pt. After I pulled the trigger 2 of the does left and the 6pt and other doe stayed for another 30 minutes and slowly fed across the field. The only time any of them got nervous was when the shot doe did her death run of about 20 yards.

I do it, but I also only kill a couple nannies a year for the freezer. Like Brock said, I think the more you go whether you kill or not does the most damage. I don’t have enough time to hunt to just watch all the time.

It ain't gonna hurt nothing. Just don't do it all the time and don't sit the same spot everytime you go.

I dont shoot does in food plots.........That's where I want does to be concentrated and NOT all spooky and on edge........I want them coming out to feed early in the afternoon and in the middle of the day instead of only right at last light. Believe it doesnt have an impact if you want to.

Pressure CNC. Not gun shots. And like Frankie said it’s best to do it early and as soon as the first one steps out. Heck I’ve shot does and big mature bucks within minutes of each other. Just sit tight and keep hunting, especially if you shoot a hot doe. Oh boy. Get ready.

I discourage shooting does until after the rut. Why shoot the bait that may bring a buck past you, plus bloody up the woods and spook everything. Myself and some friends shoot big bucks off plots every year by keeping them low pressure before the rut. The more does you have, the more does in heat you will have during the rut, which equates to having more bucks.

At best there are different variables that effect each situation differently. Sitting far off of a greenfield or powerline and shooting them from a couple hundred yards away makes a difference……Shooting one while there are a bunch of others in the field versus only one or two others makes a difference……Getting down immediately and linking the shot to a hunter for the other deer makes a difference.

Every piece of property is different.. Have hunted places where the deer return to the plot 15 min after a doe is shot . Have also hunted places with great potential where the members would shoot almost every doe that stuck her head out & by mid january you couldnt pay to see a deer on the best plots they had.. In certain places, Doe killing on plots absolutely has a negative impact. Guys on here that hunt heavy populated areas, crop fields or low pressure private land areas cant apply their experiences to the average AL Hunting club or public property.. Each to his own but We never take does on our plots

Let me ask this question then......What is "hunting pressure"?.......Is it simply human presence?

Yeah it doesn’t bother them a bit. People like to over think things and that’s fine too.
We do shoot ours as early as possible though.

With a bow..yes
With a gun…no

But these days, it’s rare for me to take the gun. I don’t really enjoy hunting them with a rifle any more.
