Have any of us had a hunt out there yet this year? Jono and I are in section 3 the week after next. I’m just curious if anyone has had luck this year.

I think I talked to you on FB the other day. We're gonna scout it Saturday morning I guess then start hunting Monday.

Haha I'd be game for that. Unfortunately we won't be up there for the full hunt. My buddy (who drew the hunt) could only get off Monday and Tuesday. Guess I'll have to kill one quick.

I'll give you 5 bucks to tell the guys in section 3 you saw huge bucks along the road by the parking lot.

I killed a little doe and my buddy killed a spike. We had fun, but don’t think that we would be interested in going back. Good luck to y’all next week.

Thanks for the updates and congrats on the does. Do you think it was the weather or too much hunting pressure?

Looks like we're going to have some crap weather for our hunt next week.

Sorry, been busy since I’ve been back. First off, I’d like to say that the people at the park were great and it is a beautiful place, but it’s kind of sold as we need some deer killed and it’s not like that at all. There used to be a problem there several years ago, but BHA was over it and I believe they killed a bunch of deer there and it helped the situation. There are deer there, but I do think that it’s over hunted. The guys that were there this week weren’t lazy and some came early and scouted then hunted all week so there isn’t much of a rest. Also, there isn’t any timber management of any kind so the woods are mature and wide open. I’m glad to have experienced the place, but I’m not too keen about going back. The tornado areas were rough according to the guys that hunted that section, FYI.

Thanks for the report AMB. It sounds like its about what it was last year, and I overall agree with the assessment. It seemed like the guys around the golf course saw tons of deer. I was in a zone that isn't even hunted this year. I killed a nice buck so I'm still excited to go with Joe, but I definitely agree that there aren't as many deer as they act like. You'd think there are deer behind every tree the way they talk about it rofl

I do think that section 1, which is around the golf course is probably the best one there.

Went and scouted section 4 this morning and picked out our spots for tomorrow. Saw six deer and two coyotes while we were walking around. Also found a few good rubs and scrapes.
