I’m going with 4.5
I would feel like you if only I had to go off the first picture except for 2 things. Even in the first picture, there is an indication of the saddleback dip right behind his shoulders. One thing I try to look at two in the early season is what I describe as a “gooseneck” look on younger deer. His neck and brisket have that more streamlined look that older deer have.
To me, younger deer seem to have a gooseneck appearance as their brisket and neck meet.
Not sure did any of that makes sense, is scientific, or if I’m just not experienced enough at big deer, but I’m going with “chootem”.
I don’t think he’s older than 4.5 I totally see what you saying, it’s just crazy how much they change in a couple months. I’m hoping he doesn’t present a shot, I’d love to see what he could be in another year

I would call him a 4 year old that could be super special next year, however he would meet my clubs criteria and no one would pass him up. one of those deer you hope noone sees until the following year
