Maybe it’s just how the picture is - that field looks huge JWalker
Its about 10acres. The lower part is an acre or so of kale, rape, daikon radishes. Left of that might not look real good but its covered in ladino and white dutch clover. I overseeded(T&M) it so its been a little slow to get going, but its there. I also spread about 250lb of elbon rye and oat on it, its there too, just not thick enough to give that green carpet look. Above that fencerow on the upper left is about an acre and a half of yuchi arrowleaf clover i overseeded this year
Its really doing good and the deer are loving it. Behind me, out of the picture is three acres of crimson clover that hasbeen going about five years and a little patch of chickory thats been going about four years but almost played out. The brown all the way in the back of the field id a half acre of chufa i bushhogged and left. Itll look better next year after all the clover i planted this year has a chance to get established. Im trying to move to things that come back. I used to break this field up twice a year and it wasnt doing well. Theres 100 acres here, i guess, i can hunt but this is all i can plant. I try to keep a good salad bar going. I have seen 20+ deer in this field at dark. Its mostly late evening and first light kind of place. Theres a house 200yds from where im sitting here. Its kinda on the edge of some pretty big woods. Its not ideal in alot of ways but ive hunted right here all my life. I can get in my truck and be there in two minutes. One day ill lose it but for now im sure proud to be able to hunt here.
