Just deer, hogs, and raccoons. There’s probably 25-30 people in our camp. The other camp at the far end of the island is 9 miles away and I’m not sure how many are in it. Probably a good bit less though because it’s a haul to get to that camp by boat.

That’s awesome. Been trying to get a group together for a trip for a couple years now. I want to make it down there one of these days. Good luck.

Do they do the hunts by units or just free range?

In the tree this morning after a 2.5 mile bike ride that almost killed me. Haven’t seen a deer yet but I’m overlooking a big trail that parallels this main road. It’s about 46° with a low wind so they should move this morning.

Got out of the tree about 11:00 and did some exploring. Found a set of Sambar tracks walking along the water on the bay side of the island. About to lay down in a shady spot to eat some lunch and take a nap before we climb back up for the afternoon hunt.

What do the deer feed on Coosa? I've seen cows eat palmettos but not deer. That island is nothing but pine trees, palmettos, water moccasins and rattle snakes.

So far I’ve found a good bit of acorns on the scrub oaks, huckleberries, and some weeds that they seem to browse on.
