Mossberg 835 with 3 1/2 inch magnum turkey loads. Shot a Ruger model 1 in 375 H&H once and it was nothing compared to the turkey loads.

The ol 835 with 3 1/2 buckshot will make a bruise, I grew up with my dad having one...and so will my rossi 410 with 3inch buckshot 😀

Mossberg 835 is like getting stomped by an elephant. One of the few guns ive ever sold this is the absolute truth. I sold one to make sure I never forgot and fired it again. Worst runner up was a 16 ga single bbl that had a skinny stock and would kill yer shoulder AND face at the same time.

Mossberg 835. My dads first dedicated turkey gun. I’ve killed a critter with every gun I inherited. I knew this gun was coming up on the lineup and dreaded it. He shot winchester 3” #5s. I went to pattern it and it busted my lip. I missed 2 turkeys before I finally killed one. I don’t plan on ever shooting it again. It’s the gun u let a brother in law borrow

Mossberg 835 Benelli SBE with 3.5" duck loads Sharps 45-70 with steel crescent butt plate loded with 535gr bullets. This was also the most painful to shoot

I believe it was a 570 nitro express I never fired anything above a 505g (well, not counting 50bmg, but it had some weight and a break or can), but those and the 458w stuff I fired kicked way less than heavy turkey loads….to me.

I have shot several models of 50BMG, none kicked as bad as an 835 with 3 1/2 turkey loads.
I shot a 458Win when I was 16 er so, lifted my front(left) foot 18' off the ground but it was more push than pain.
I also shot a XP100 pistol in 458American with a 350gr hP, pretty good recoil but didn't hurt as bad as a TC Contender I shot in 30/30.

Actually....I had an O/U that double fired with high brass #6’s at a pheasant shoot. Damn near knocked me down. That was going to be my comment. A double trigger double barrel that you can pull both triggers at the same time will leave a mark and a memory.

Ain't no doubt a turkey gun us far worse than 99% of the rifle seen in Alabama deer woods. Worst one I own is a 35 Whelen AI. It's a custom built gun with a steel butt plate and it will start inducing a flinch in a few shots. Just something about the stock. I have another custom with a steel butt plate in 300 win mag that's not unpleasant at all, and it's lighter than the Whelan. Different stock shape and heavier bullets make a big difference.
