I am glad some of y'all .243 guys aren't dead because you've stared it in the face and lived to post about it.... Mossberg 835 surely kicks with a Turkey load. But you would never have to worry about shooting anything with one they rattle like a trash bag full of aluminum cans. What a POS shotgun.

Savage 110 in 270 win I bought when I was in college. It was hideously painful to shoot. Sold it and never looked back.

Someone has already mentioned this one, but again, a 45-70 contender, 14” barrel shooting a 405 gr hand load. Painful, but stopped many hogs. I could shoot it 3 times before it had to be put away… just a nasty/painful recoil…

I hate to hear that, sort of a dream gun on mine. What length barrel and load? I was always had the notion that with 7.5” barrel and normal loads it was manageable

Mine was a 7.5 inch barrel and I was shooting Hornady 325 grain XTP’s.

Worst I have ever shot was 870 3.5” 2.25oz hevishot Turkey load.

I will certainly take that under advisement then during future fits of impulse purchase syndrome. Haha

.378 WBY is fairly harsh but the worst kicking gun I've shot is a .325 WSM in a Kimber Montana.

I've shot numerous big bore double rifles and none are as painful as my .325 WSM.

I've shot a 835 with a 3.5 and it compares to the .325 WSM.

I set a 835 up to be a turkey gun. Bought six boxes of shells to pattern it. By the time i shot it 12 times, i hated it. I shot it two more times at two turkeys then i sent it on down the line.

Not the hardest kicking gun ever, but it started skeet shooting competitively when I was in middle school. Dad gave me his Sears bolt action slug gun to take to the first practice. It was pretty light weight and I had never shot one of his 12 gauges before. Kicked like a mule for a little guy and 50 rounds later my shoulder was purple. The next week I didn’t complain about the semi auto he let me take. Fun times! 😂

LOL! Bench rest shot a Mauser in 458 Win Mag - ONCE! Also checked my teeth to see if they were loose after.

Like a few others have said-835 with 2 1/4oz 3 1/2”. With regard to rifles, my 5 lb Kimber Montana in .308 is pretty damn lively

Besides a Mossberg, probably a Benelli Nova with 3.5” turkey loads.

I never plan to shoot another mossberg 835 again. Wore a serious headache the rest of the day. I have read where people are tearing retinas from the recoil.
