Worst kicking rifle for me was a friends synthetic stock howa 338 win mag, I shot it twice and said no more for me. I bent the bell on a tasco with my head on a 338 win mag many years ago. Learned a valuable lesson about rifle control that the scar on my noggin reminds me of daily.

I would have to say when I was 12 years old my Dad gave me a Remington single shot 12 ga. and the first thing I put through it was a 3 1/2" slug. I literally fell on my ass.

Well the pic award winner goes to the guy above. I have had my synthetic savage .300wm knock my hat off a few times. Im very careful about how Im positioned when I pull that trigger.
Its not the will to win but the will to prepare to win!

New England Arms 12g 3.5” Turkey load. It’s FAR worse than the 2 835s I have. It is BRUTAL!! 😂👍 Preach. Nothing like it. Only combo I've ever fired once, and swore I'd never do it again. And I had an 835, and it was nasty with 3.5", but cant hold a candle to that single shot.

I had a 458 Win Mag for a while and shoot 45-70 often, both were/are way more pleasant to shoot than a Winchester Model 70 264 Win Mag I had once, I dont know what it was other than stock shape but that gun was brutal. Ive owned a few 264's and most were brisk kickers but that Model 70 was ridiculous. One caliber I will say people tend to fear but is actually not bad is 375 H&H I have a current production M70 264 win mag and it's very mild on recoil. But I've known a few who had one of the original pre 64 featherweights in 264 and they said it was tough on the shoulder

I hunted with an 835 for several years. I don’t recall it being particularly violent on the recoil end. Then I hunted with a Supermag for years. I’d actually like to have another just like it. Mossy Oak Breakup, 24-inch barrel. It was Pure Death on anything you pointed it at. I did run both 3.5 and 3-inch shells through it. Hardest kicking gun I remember was a little short, camo single shot weighed about 4 lbs. bought it as a “mountain turkey” gun. Damn thing shot a foot to one side. I shot it a bunch to make sure it wasn’t me. It wasn’t. The retailer I bought it from was an honest man. He took it back to send back to the factory after shooting it himself and confirming the point of impact problem. It was awful.
