870 supermag with the shur-shot stock. It was truly painful with 3 or 3 1/2 shells. 835 and Nova were really heavy recoil but not painful.

Mossberg 835 with 3.5 inch magnum shells This I still have memories of this beast….. I don’t think I have ever seen Pam laugh so hard. I did not even look at the turkey target to see how it patterned, could have cared less!!!

835 hands down. My now wife bought me one for Christmas early 90s. I caught some mallards out in the slough behind the house bunched up. I loaded #4s in it and done the sneak. Got about 50 yards from them and they jumped up and I pulled t he trigger. My thumb hit the bridge of my nose and I dropped the gun. I thought it was broken. Had to learn after that how to position thumb so it would never happen again. This is the result of the buttstock of a 870 HD meeting the “booger hill” of a well deserving low life. . Best I recall, it resulted in a lot of paperwork.
