When will the state post the official details on the 2022 season? It is only a couple months out and the links still only take a person to the 2021 season.

I know the new regs totally screwed all of the public land guys like myself, but I'd at least like to see the official page ddetails. All I can find are press releases.

Never really read that much into it......I just look at it kinda like a school year - "hunting season" starts in Sept (dove) and ends in May (turkeys).

Yep
Public land hunters are screwed this Turkey season
It gives the coyotes bobcats foxes more of a opportunity to kill a turkey than it doe the tax paying license buying hunters

I don't understand what this part means:

>>>One gobbler per day; four gobbler bag limit during spring season (no fall season)<<<

So what does "(no fall season)" mean in this context? They clearly do have a fall season in a few counties, and if you read down the list it spells them out and gives the dates. It used to be clear that any gobbler you killed in the fall counted against your 5 bird limit, but this doesn't really say that.

It's a moot point anyway, as there probably isn't a fall hunter in the state who is gonna worry about it, but they could hire an intern or someone to write clear regulations.

Yeah, and they left out the part about the southern zone starting March 12th. Oh well.

Start March 25 and ends March 26. 4 birds but only one a day. Also can't hunt past 1pm and can't use a .410 or 20 ga. Must be steel shot only. Screw Chuck Sykes and co...that is all...

So, we can have two weeks different deer season in Walker and Winston county, but the same fraking turkey season in Clarke and Jackson county. Genius stuff there.

Never gonna stop rattling that cage. Two zones needed, argument for three I guess.

Guess I'll have to call and clarify.... The way I understand, I could go and kill a bird sometime during the first week of April on an April 1 public land opening tract, and then have to wait til April 11 to hunt on one of the April 8 openers?

We just need more restrictions that are easier to understand. Maybe they could just put out a video on YouTube explaining it all grin

rofl

I'm fairly well versed in regulation interpretation, but that's one YouTube video i'd have to watch at this point.

This is an absolute and complete idiot asylum down there. When I first read it, it looks like you can only kill one bird the first 10 days. Maybe that’s just on public? If u want to drop the bag limit, fine. No justifiable reason to do so, but whatever. Just quit screwing with the dates. March 15-April 30 was just fine.

And I was thinking about taking my boys youth hunting. If they would get a bird in youth season does that mean they cant hunt the first 10 days of the regular season? And I guess the youth hunt start dates would just depend on where we are? Private vs public vs special wma... 3 youth weekends if I read that correctly.

Edit: maybe we should just make it easier and hunt a different state's youth season instead. For you residents maybe that was the goal. Even when I lived less than an hour away from my Alabama spots these regs would have been a royal PITA.
