U can google some - I started w dukes 500 but like the Minnesota brand bettr - lot of info in trapping threads on Aldeer

I started w a trapping kit - came w 4 traps - had everything u needed - even dye and wax. Can also google how to catch a coyote in a dirt hole set - lot of info out there - very detailed process - but once u get it - u got it

Maybe somebody has some for sale on here - if not u can google what u need - I order mine on line

You will need a catch pole to be legal, Check YouTube and you can build one for a few bucks. Also find some dog proof traps for coons because the are easy to set and can be moved from spot to spot and the only bait you need is cat food, If he is catching a few coons he won't get so discouraged from not catching coyotes. For most people it takes a few years to learn coyote trapping. Let me know if you can't find any dog proofs up there and I'll find a way to get you some.

I’ve bought almost all of my traps on eBay for good prices. Duke coyote traps and the dog proof coon traps.

Thanks guys for the info and tips. I think 4-6 would be plenty for him to start with. We live close to hunting property and he can access anytime on 4 wheel.

Crocker, I myself am in the same boat with wanting to learn about trapping. About 2 weeks ago I placed an order for 7 of the MB550 offset traps as well as all the other goodies to get me up and going. I ordered them from Fleming trapping located in Ramer, AL. I chatted with Cary down there and he was most helpful. I de-greased all my traps last Friday and then set them in a 5 gallon bucket of dye and they are now hanging out on a fence outside to let them dry good and air themselves out. I am still waiting on the backordered earth anchors and chains to come in. If I had to do it over again I would have bought the 15 inch 3/32 cable with anchors instead of the chains....the chains are just more added weight to tote around.
It'll be the first week after deer season before I get to go to out and make sets and give it a whirl.
I see you are in Bham,..what part?

Depending on your soils, etc the chain may be a better option. If you're using quick links and leaving the anchors in place cable is OK. If you have really heavy or rocky soil and intend to pull, then chain with welded S hooks is a better option.

"Cull" is just another four letter word...

I have a kit I’ll sell you. Has 6 traps in it and comes with bait, lure, and everything needed. Message me. I’m in Guin. I only set it out one time. 205-495-4264
