I think there's to many bucks and not enough doe's. We have killed ,2 bucks and 4 doe,'s off 1050 acres.
We could have probably killed 6 or doe's if guys weren't holding out for a buck. I got spikes every where. That ain’t good at all. We could have killed 15 or more at my house on 40 acres could have killed 8-10 on our 200 acre lease and probably 8-10 on our 460 acre lease. Of course we only killed 2 on the 200 acres plan to kill a few at the house. Y’all got to quit shooting does if y’all aren’t seeing more then that.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

I know a fellow in a club in Shelby county that has 18 total members and a little over 2,000 aces. It works out to between 110-120 acres per person. Out of those 18 members, around 4 live out of state and only hunt one week a year. So that basically increases the acreage to about 140 per member. Out of the remaining 14 that live locally, only about 12 have been to the club this season, which increases it to about 166 acres per member. This have seen/killed two does this entire season. Heck I can see more than that on any given day in my back yard, which is also Shelby Co.

Well here is what the problem is. I have these pine thickets and you can't hunt them. We are talking clearcut, planted and the trees have yet to be thinned. That's probably 350 acres of my lease. Probably 400 or more is pines that are thick with no understory. So that's a deer wasteland. The rest is thinned pines and hardwoods.
The deer I have seen I have tracked when I got down, and they all go into the pine thickets. So they are out on the lease that's huntable at night, and then make their way back to the pine thickets early am. Once hunting pressure ramps up.
We are supposed to get some cutting/thinning this year which will help, but if I can't get the loggers or timber do to work with me a little, then it will be unhuntable in about 4 or 5 years again.
If I was king for a day, I'd get a forestry mulcher and cut lanes thru these thickets so we can plant them and hunt them from either end depending on the wind direction. When I walk the roads along the edges of the pine thickets there are deer tracks everywhere. So the deer are here.
If I can cut my membership, that would help. All my fields are lined and fertilized. I even taste some of the plants, they are sweet and not bitter at all.

I wish more people would get into trapping. It has definitely helped the turkeys and deer where I hunt more than anything. Having good neighbors is also a big factor. I wish everyone would shoot a young buck instead of a doe for the meat if they just gotta fill the freezer. I'm guilty myself but gonna start learning here soon...when I was lil my dad did it as a side income I've got pictures at my moms with bundles of pelts in the basement everywhere N I agree if u don't see many deer don't shoot does...

I wish they'd let me kill two does a day again maybe it'd get to where I could have a garden again. Now I have to run electric fence ever where . They keep torn down all the time. That's a good problem to have...if I was u I'd just manage your property yourself...that's what I do

Coyotes are I think a part of the problem. What would be wrong with the state giving 40 per coyote tail turned in or something like Louisiana has done for the nutria. Heck give away a free baiting permit for every coyote proven killed lol I pushed for this hard. I thought it would be a great way to put the money from the license sales to work. Where is the money going?

Heck give away a free baiting permit for every coyote proven killed lol Coyotes are a BIG part of the problem. When fawns start hitting the ground the coyotes then focuses on eating fawns and continues to do so until the fawns get old enough to outrun him. When you trap a coyote another takes his place within just a few days, it’s kind of like when someone moves out of the projects, someone moves in right behind them. You need an experienced trapper, with LOTS OF TRAPS, to trap a large area really hard from April thru July and you will see a rise in your deer and turkey population. All of the predators prey on turkey nests.

Trapping coins has helped or turkey populations out a lot! You will be shocked how many you can catch right after deer season at your feeders. We probably take 40-60 a year on our place. It’s easy! However coyotes are a different subject. They are hard to catch!
Hunting brings out the worst in people.
