PawPaw taught me how to drive in a 1954 MG when I was about 12 years old. I got my motorcycle license when I was 14 and rode my Suzuki GS400 back and 4th to Junior High. By 15 I had saved up enough money to buy a 1966 Mustang GT fast back for $600. I drove it all over with just my learner's permit.

My dad and my grandfather were both pretty cool gearheads.

Driving the tractor before I could reach the pedals had to stand up to reach them . Driving on the road at 11 years. I had to be able to drive a stick proficiently before they would let me drive an automatic.

Probably about 9 or 10 around the farm. We had a Datsun pickup and with the bench moved all the way up and maybe a coat to sit on.... that was about the time I could see over the dash.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

When I was 12 I pulled a trailer from Birmingham to Alex city in a s10. Also got my first ticket on the way in harpersville for no trailer lights. Cop had given my sister a ticket the week before for no trailer lights on the same one. Luckily my grandfather was county tax collector or that could have wound up bad.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Learned in a 76 custom deluxe heavy-half with full time 4x4. AKA-the log truck.

I was probably 10 or 11 when I got to take it by myself. When I couldnt reach the pedals I would steer and my dad would work the brake and foot feed as he would call them.

Starting at 12 my friends loved hanging out because we would stay in our cabin and drive a truck around all weekend with no parents. My grandma lived about 1 mile up the road and with no cell phones we didnt have much contact with the outside world.

No way parents would let kids do that today.

7-8 on Pops Ford 2000 tractor, 10 and up around the farm in my great uncles 4x4 Scottsdale (manual), at 14 my grandmother would let me drive her Ford LTD around the county roads, at 15 I was driving everywhere but school.

Pop passed 10 years ago but I still own that tractor. Actually used it today.

Learned in a four on the floor Ford 3/4 ton at the age of six by the age of 8 was driving that same truck 25 miles to the feed mill with a load of corn. Waited until they ground the corn and mixed the feed and brought it back to the farm did that twice a week. At 15 got my license and never took a driving test or written test. The examiner was coming down the court house steps and my dad said I want to get this boy his license. He looked at my dad and said it’s about time hell he’s been driving for seven or eight years. Small town in Mississippi and everyone in the town and county knew everyone and everything.

8 or 9 - my uncle had an Ford straight-6 300 pickup with an automatic - he would let me drive the fields while he dropped the square hay bails . I don't know if I would classify that as driving - it was more letting the truck do the work while I pressed the gas or the brake when he tapped on the bed and sawed at the wheel.

I know at 10 I could drive anything - stick, automatic, tractors...etc. Also at 14, I got my driver's permit and would hot lap another uncle's stock car at the some of the local dirt tracks.

This! I stood on the floor in order to see over the dash . The truck was idled high enough to make it crawl along. I was 5 years old

Probably 13 pulling the trailer while loading hay bales because I was too small to keep up catching and stacking. Years later on a cold morning, I drove the new JD 4450 cab tractor with heat and duels to school because the battery on my truck was dead, well to really show it off..

I started driving stuff on the farm when I was knee high to a grasshopper. I would drive my grandpa from the camp around 11 or 12. I started racing dirt track cars, the fastest class here at the local track when I was 14. Been racing ever since. I’ve always had the mind set if it has legs I can ride it if it has wheels I can drive it.

Started on a Farmall C about 7 or 8. Started learning to drive a truck about 10, it was a 1976 F100 3 on the tree. Driving on my own at 14. Have an uncle that got a ticket from a State Trooper for driving an old 2.5 ton Dodge dump bed truck hauling grain at 13 or 14 for not having a license. I'm trying to get my almost 15 year old to learn but she really has no interest.

Started at 11-12. I was driving all over The big city by 14. I’d drive to school and park at the end of the parking lot. Driving the tractor at 10. Doing the same with my son. He takes the truck all over our property and down the dirt roads and he is 9. Also drives our tractor.

Started driving Dads old Ford around the woods when I was 9 or 10. Sat on a case of Pepsi with a pillow behind me. About couldn't stall that 300 6cyl with the 4 speed granny.
