Senator Will Barfoot from the river region is fully responsible for the amendments attached to HB272.  Make no mistake, he’s in bed with the ASA and BCA. 
He is also going to be on the Senate’s special committee concerning HB272, along it Sen Gerald Allen.  I don’t know who the appointed Democrat will be.

Tell him the amendments need to be struck from the bill, making it clean and that we will accept no less.  
Send texts to his phone, because he more than likely will not answer a call being in session.  You can try calling h if you want, but I feel texts will be more productive if he’s in session.

I think this was added by the Senate. I also heard somewhere In the bill that you will be required to tell LE you have a weapon in a traffic stop? (I haven't read the whole bill)

Gives law enforcement the ability to demand that gun owners hand over their weapons during a traffic stop if they have a “reasonable belief” that a person has committed a crime or is planning a criminal event. The officer can then check the person’s weapon.
Prohibits a person from knowingly touching a weapon during a traffic stop - that would be a class C misdemeanor

I just got a notice that its on Gov MeeMaw's desk for her signature. Will be interesting to see what she does.

According to Al.com she’s already signed it and it will take effect in January.

It will take at least that long to set up the database of persons prohibited from carrying that the law calls for. That will be a huge tool for LE.

Signed in its original, good form, from what I understand. Not including the stuff that had been added. Good news, get a permit if you want it, but not required if you don't want it.

Article I just read on al.com said they passed the revised bill. I’d like to see the specifics. The idiots running our state could fork up a wet dream so I’ll be shocked if they passed this without screwing it up.

Well this is some of what is in the bill - A new state database is under development to help officers flag people who are prohibited from possessing a handgun. Stringer, a former captain in the Mobile County sheriff’s department, said he believes that will be a better system to catch people who should not have handguns. The president of the Alabama Sheriffs’ Association has said he does not think the database will effectively replace the safety checks provided by the permits because of inevitable gaps in data collection.

Lawmakers made several changes to the bill to try to alleviate some of law enforcement’s concerns.

During a traffic stop or other investigation, an officer who has a reasonable suspicion that a person was about to engage in criminal conduct, could temporarily take a handgun and run it through databases to see if the gun was stolen. The officer could also check the person’s criminal history.

An officer could also temporarily take a weapon if a reasonable person would believe it is necessary for the safety of the officer or others, but it must be returned unless there is an arrest, or the person is posing a safety threat. The legislation would steer up to $5 million in state funds to sheriffs’ offices to compensate for the funding loss from permit fees.
