Ya I like it right now...if not just split it...it really don't matter that much cuz I can change my hours but I got kids in school n it's better for our house

I just wish they would keep the day at 24 hours. Every time they change it to 23 hours it’s hard for me to get out of bed and go to church the next day. And then it’s harder to go to sleep that night and in turn harder to get up on Monday. Yeah just keep the days 24 hours long if you ask me.

Not a big deal, I don't really like DST, but again not a big deal. That being said, what is it that you like (if you're for DST)?
Does is just conveniently fit your lifestyle / job, or would you prefer DST regardless of any factors?

I prefer standard time because it fits a lot of ideals specific to me.
I'm a morning person anyway, I prefer it getting daylight at an earlier time. I do not sleep late, ever. Even on a Sunday morning, I'm up at 5:00-ish, and I just have to roam around the house waiting on daylight. Can't do crap.
I don't have a back-loaded daily schedule, I hit the ground running, and by the time I leave work, I'm mentally done...I don't want to "get busy" after I leave work. I hate "killing time" in the evenings waiting on it to get dark.
I go to bed relatively early (average around 9:30PM). Geez, in the Summer, it's barely dark at 8:30. By the time it gets dark, and you get inside and get cleaned up, you're only 2.5 (+,-) hours from midnight.
I like to turkey hunt before work in the mornings, and DST costs me an hour of daylight. Fortunately I can come in when I want to, but I don't need to be late nevertheless. I hate losing that hour.
I love it getting dark so early during deer season. I can hunt till total dark, and still be home by 6:00. I haven't pissed away my whole evening.
In the Summer when it don't even get dark till 8:30, I can't stand to go fishing.... by the time I get home it's 9:00 or later, and by the time you put the boat up and get a shower, it's dang near 10:00 and I ain't even eat yet.
Did I mention in the Summer it's only slightly more than 3 hours from midnight when it gets dark? That's weird as @#$#@!
Based on our latitude line, even without DST, you have an average of 15 hours of daylight in the Summer months (compared to 12 hours in the Winter months)


But I realize 90% of people don't live that way, so it makes sense to go DST and cater to the majority.

One of the more surprising realizations I've learned over the years is how late most people are oriented. I never realized how late most people stay up even on normal nights during the week, and honestly I don't know what they're doing LOL. We had an office discussion last week about DST, and my secretary (who is 30, a grown adult), huffily said, "I am NOT going to bed before midnight!" I asked why, and the only answer she had was "I'm just not!"

My daughter worked at Chick-fil-A for years, they closed at 9:00 and she would often come home talking about how they'd get slammed at 8:30-9:00 with families coming in to eat. She said people would come in at 8:55, and would get pissed when they told them they were closing the lobby....they'd say, "who closes a restaurant at dinner time??" Dinner time is 9:00 at night??

But I also pass ballfields at all hours of all nights and they're packed. I wonder how much of the fanfare for DST is driven by the youth ball phenomenon?

Heck, I see Facebook posts all hours of the night and wee early morning.

The biggest thing I dislike about DST is for fishing in late spring - summer. Too hot to fish during the day, if I want to fish until dark, it will be 11:00 by the time I get the boat out of water clean fish drive home and put the boat up.

Just get up before the sun comes up, work hard all day, then go to bed a couple hours after it goes down. Doesn’t matter what the clock says.

I have been to other time zones before.
What does it matter what the clock reads when it's middle of the daylight period, it's middle of the daylight period, why does it matter if is says 8:00 PM
What is ridiculous is working back and forth in a time zone and trying to meet people that are in the different ones.
Not to mention working the other side of the world trying to figure out when someone will be at work. If all clocks were the same, just post your work day 1 am to 10 am.
And if I work from 5 pm to 3 am it would be easy to know when to call the other side of the world instead of having to figure out how many time zones are between us.

The only reason time zones are a thing is because they first came out with sundials and of course the sun comes up and goes down later the further west you go.
So the sundial read differently depending on where you were in the world. But now with clocks that can be set to whatever you want (not sun dependent) what does it matter what the numbers on it say.
But as creatures of habit we can't go with something that makes sense instead we want to figure out case by case when we are dealing with people across time zones because we are used to eating lunch at 12 noon no matter where we are in the world.

I definitely like having more daylight in the evenings. More time to do stuff in the daytime after work. If I didn't work, I would care less.

Yep. I get up at 5am, at work by 7am after a 45 minute drive. Usually leave the office by 4:30pm then another 45 minute to an hour drive home. So home by 5:15-5:30. Feed calves, other farm chores, eat supper, it's 6:30ish. On DST it's dark about 8:30 mid summer, that's two hours to work in the garden, mow the grass, throw ball with the youngin, go fishing in the pond, etc. On Standard time I would have an hour, can't get much done before dark like that. I don't give two chits for it getting daylight at 4:15 am in the dead of summer either, I ain't up at that time and don't wanna be. That's just a waste of daylight.
