My little 20ga 1100 and 870 both shoot way to tight a pattern with the Truglo SSX choke I have. I patterned both with factory full and they throw a nice pattern at 40yds but a little to open for my liking. I bought the Carlson .575 to try to tighten it a little for the trip to Texas. Anybody shoot this combo? I’m shooting Apex 1 5/8oz of 8s and have 9s also.

I use it in my Tristar .20 ga and I think it’s great. I’m using #9 TSS with red dot and smoked m easy at 20 - 45 last two years

my 870 loves that choke and it puts out a great hunting pattern

Stephens truglo is way to tight at 20 but it is awesome at 40-50. I’m actually not afraid to shoot one at 60 plus but that’s for one that really pisses me off. That’s a 1187 youth.

I have two 870s that we use Carlson 575s in. I can send you some pattern pictures if you want

I’m pleased with the Carlson choke. I didn’t count the 10” circle because I didn’t need to. This is the Federal 1 1/2oz 9s. I didn’t want to waste one of the 1 5/8 Apex loads. The entire pattern covered a 32”x32” area. I think that’s a pretty good wall of pellets. [Linked Image]

I hate to be the one to say it marshmud but there’s a fairly good chance that your point of impact may be different when you go to swapping shells. I’d definitely shoot one of them to be on the safe side.

Ya I thought of that. Gonna try one this afternoon after the wind dies down some.

Apex 1 5/8oz 9s. Ranged 40yds. Point of impact was almost exactly the same as the Federal. Apex is just a touch higher. I’m shooting with just the bead so it could’ve been me. The Apex seams to be a little tighter then the federals. [Linked Image]

Your post doesn't make any sense to me. A .575 choke is NOT tighter than a Truglo SSX, which is .555.

A little tighter then factory full is what I was looking for. The SSX shoots like a dang rifle. I wanted something in between and I found it with the .575 Carlson.

I have the same choke that I need to test one day this week. I hope it shoots similar. Just wanting a more open pattern.

Ah, that makes sense. What was wrong with the factory full?

Nothing really. I just wanted something a little tighter the full.
