Turkey check is just like deer check. Absolutely worthless data for any kind of statistical analysis, which is the only reason to inconvenience the hunting public to collect such data. Ever heard the old adage, "garbage in equals garbage out"? I was bass fishing this past Saturday morning in Covington County and I heard several birds stretching their vocal chords around the lake I was on. I'll also mention that heard 3 separate shots on surrounding properties between 7:20 and 11:00. Lucky me. There were 2 recorded kills in Covington all weekend according to Chuckie check. I guess it just so happens that I must have heard the only two shots in the entire county that killed and the third "youth hunter" (yeah right) must have just missed because you know that if he would have killed, they'd have checked the bird for sure (wink wink).
Here's what I'm really laughing at. Between Clarke, Wilcox, Dallas, Lowndes, Monroe, Washington, Choctaw counties, there were a total of 24 birds recorded as being killed. That's a joke. Almost half, (3) of the 7 youth kills in Wilcox were killed (and recorded on Chuckie Check) off my place ((1) nephew's first and a miss) or my adjoining neighbors (2). The numbers are so far from accurate on both deer and turkey that I honestly get sick of seeing the state post this BS.
