Deet always works for me. I rub it on before hitting the woods and they stay off of me. I usually buy mine at Wal-Mart and it runs about four bucks a bottle. One bottle usually lasts a year for me also. The trade name is Repel and it is 20% deet. X2... use the deet products and spray liberally. If you do get bit, use Fresh Mint Listerine... it kills the itch.
