I've got to upgrade my dogbox situation this year.....,,,,I'm thinking about going with a pull behind trailer style. Anyone got one that they want to part with or a good lead on somewhere to buy one from???.....

Just get a 3 or 4 bay mtck, ainley, or deerskin you're gonna hate pulling a trailer to go on tracks.

It isn't necessary to see a good tackle...you can hear it.

Pulling a trailer limits parking spots.

I hear what you’re saying about pulling a trailer…..That’s definitely on the “Con” list……Here’s my reason or thinking for wanting one though and the "Pros"…..On at least half the tracks I go on….and I’m sure its probably no different for everyone else…..I get to the property in my truck and we have to load up in a side by side at camp and ride in to the hit sit with the dog in the back of the side by side…….Now that I have three dogs I want to be able to take all three of them with me wherever we go…..I don’t want to have to leave two of them a mile or two away back at camp……Also, some folks don’t think anything about the dog being in the bed of the side by side and they take off like they stole it or something…….

What I’m wanting to be able to do is just unhitch from the truck and hook the towable dog box up to their side by side…..I figured I’d keep a hitch with me just in case they didn’t have one. I'm even considering a combo dog box/4-wheeler trailer where I can just unload a 4-wheeler and pull them myself

I'm thinking the trailer is gone get tore up dragging it around. Mine ride in a Owens box I like it had plenty of vents and storage I added a water tank. Only con is I wish my dog compartments were taller.i get your points but I don't think that trailer is gone work unless your pulling your own sxs with a box in it

The other idea was to get something like a Suzuki Samuria and build a custom box in the back.....Something has got to change from the way I'm currently doing it.

I know a big time quail hunter that passed away last year that had one I'll ask about it...that man had everything you could think of when it comes to bird hunting...

It works fine when I can drive my truck right to where we're going but I run into a lot of situations where we have to ride a side by side into the hit site.....sometimes a long ways too.......I end up having to leave two of the dogs behind in the truck and I'd rather have them all three right there with me for a few reasons.

Most folks are fine but its that 1 out 10 deal that gets you.......It's usually a young teenager or someone just amped up wanting to find their deer. You dont want to start the track off by having to the a-hole that tells them to slow the $%#@ down before they sling the dog out of the back......You just run into a lot of situations over time....Some of them I look back on and laugh..... grin

I had this one track I went on for "Such and Such Swamp Hunting Club" where the folks had like 1000 acres of major watershed leased and it was nothing but about a mile ride through a swamp bottom to get where we were going....not to mention it had just got through raining all night so it was good and muddy,,,,.We went in full force too with about three different buggies full.....The young man that was driving the buggy I was riding in was probably about 10 or 11 years old.....In all fairness to him you could tell he had driven it a bunch and did great on the ride in just putting along.....He tells me on the ride that the buggy we're in was actually a racing side by side and his dad didnt let too many people drive it because it had too much power....The speedometer went over 100.......I'll verify it too because at one point in the journey I drove it for a stretch and it felt about like the Banchy of side by sides....When you gave it gas it went.

So we find the deer and were on the way back out of the swamp and right at the end of there road where it met back into pavement was a gradually sloped incline that went 10-12 ft up a hill where it transitioned from mud to pavement.....At one time in the past it had been a logging entrance so it was nice and wide but just muddy as all hell at the time. Now if I had been driving I would have switched her into 4-wd to go up it but the young man that was driving hit it in 2wd.....About half way up it we start spinning and the more we spin the more he starts romping down on the gas until were at a point where he's got the motor going "Yah!, Yah!, Yah!, Yah!, Yah!"......Mind you now what kind of side by side were on......And this whole time were inching forward like this closer and closer to the pavement transition and he aint letting up......My butt cheeks start clinching up and I start finding chit to hold onto knowing what's about to happen when we catch traction when I holler out "Woahhh!!!!!.....Woah!!!!!!!"........Little man let off just in time to chirp the tires and pop the front wheels of the ground but not kill us. It was one of those close calls where there was no harm no foul but it got pretty hairy there for a moment none the less. rofl

I've tracked deer for around 5 years in a 2wd truck without a single problem always running 2 dogs sometimes 3. Either way I'd rather pull my own trailer and sxs and keep my dogs in the dog box. I wouldn't want my dogs on a trailer either way.

It sounds like your own side by side with a dog box in it would be the way to go

I agree. Put it all on a trailer and be done with the shenanigans.

On the original thought, pulling a small trailer that a SxS is capable of pulling seems like a pain in the butt. You know it's going to have to be short toungued and isn't going to pull or back worth a darn and probably bounce like hell on rough roads.
