And…make sure you buy 20’ sticks so you get those slip couplings on each one. Or buy rolls- much easier. Definitely buy the roll poly. Can do the whole run with no joints. I’d use an ips/ pvc diameter 1.5” or 2”. Pex is copper tube size so your diameter is smaller.

I know some stuff about this..it absolutely will be outrageously expensive if you want to..extend a main..but you aint wanting to do that..youare wanting to tap the main and run that water service line 1500ft..it will cost you the pipe and however you wanna dig the ditch..thats about as expensive as its gotta be..id run 1in pex an buy it by the roll..you could do it in a couple days..i dug my underground fiberoptic myself..dug it with a pick an shovel..980ft..didnt cost me nothin but a sore back. Same deal with the water..you oay them to set the meter..then you run whatever however. Id say screw a well..but then thats up to you..but if city water is an option id do that over a well 10-1

Don't just rent a trencher. RENT A RIDE ON TRENCHER!! You DON'T want to try and cut a ditch that long with a walk behind. The ride on cuts much better through rocky ground. Tell whoever you rent it from to MAKE SURE it has good teeth on the chain and not worn out ones. The ride on trencher also has a blade to help you back fill the trench.

I'd just dig if the neighbors water is only thing your worried about...you'll know pretty quick if u hit it and then be ready to fix it right quick.. know where their cutoff is located beforehand

Use the blue wet & fast glue if you do it yourself. I have run thousands of feet of PVC. The other stuff isn't even close. They will try to sell you all kinds but that blue stuff is forever.

So define water main—- the main we put in a subdivision is 6” to 8” ductle iron. With Hydrants, Cutoffs, bedded in gravel, crossing for stub outs. That’s not what your wanting.
Over a 1500’ run friction loss Is your enemy. Put in 2”. The only difference is the cost of materials. The ditch is the same price. Yeah, maybe that's what the google machine is thinking I mean, but it's definitely not!

Have a contract on a piece of property, looking at the utility options. There is water available at the main road, but would be a roughly 1500 foot run to get the water main from the road to where I want the utilities. Looking at some pricing from the internet, it looks like the cost of having that done is going to be crazy high. Think I'm going to be better of with a well.
I was told a new well was roughly $5-6k. The cost of having someone come do the main looks insane, like $75k plus. Am I seeing this correctly? Anyone have first hand experience? I ran 1300 feet of PEX for about 1500 bucks last summer. Pasture land. It was just from a well to a shed. 1” pipe. Rented a sit on trencher.
