I know you said full size but personally if I didn’t have a camper to pull there would be a Tacoma in my driveway. Those things live longer than sea turtles

The one I had was uncomfortable as hell though. I couldn't stand to ride in it more than a couple of hours. That's the main reason I sold it. I can drive my Ram all day long and still feel great when I get out of it. Mrs. Irish loves to ride in it better than any vehicle we have ever owned. She always wants to take it on trips.
I'm a GM guy, but those years I'd probably go with the ford or toyota in a half ton. 3/4 I would get a gm with the 6.0, but that is only because I find those Ford grills on the 3/4 tons to be ugly. I'd still drive one if it was a good deal though.
I read Irish's posts and trust his thoughts. So, maybe a Ram too. But I still have nightmares from all those 1/2 ton 90's models that the transmissions were so terrible in. Though the old ones with the cummins were awesome.

I think that's why Dodge decided just to let someone else design and build their 8 speed transmissions.
Well played Dodge...
Don't know much about the reliability of the Hemi engines, but this article is what convinced me to buy a Ram with the Pentastar V6 in it...
Ram with 5.7L Hemi has good hp and torque, rides and tow’s well but remember it’s half ton. Fuel mileage depends on you, 15 to 18 mpg in mine. Straight up highway trip, it rides better than our car.
I have a 2020 1500 with the 5.7. I am well pleased with mine.
Tundra for me. I’ve got a 2015 Limited Crewmax 4x4, and it’s been great. Currently has 114k miles, and I plan to drive it another 8-10 years. After that I’ll buy one more truck (probably another Tundra), and ride off into the sunset in that one.
Jesus... I hope you know Him personally like I do.

This. One known problem and that’s gas mileage. But you can buy a lot of gas for the price of a Chevy/gmc replacement of the engine or transmission.

I saw a new Tundra the other day and they are hideous. They can't be beat on reliability though. F150 is the best choice if you are concerned about looks.

Be careful on that reliability statement. Historically, yes. 2022 who knows? The tried and true v-8 everyone in this thread is referencing is no longer an available option. All three engine options for the 2022s are brand new, untested and unproven 3.5L 6 cylinder twin turbos. Shockingly enough, unless you go with the gas/elec hybrid, the gas mileage is only marginally better than the old V-8 and still way behind all the other manufacturers. Real world numbers I am hearing the the 4wds are like 15 city and 19 Hwy. And yes, they look hideous. Why in the world would build a truck where the entire front end is just one huge, massive, ugly butt, oversized grill. It is the only thing you notice when you see one. Person that designed it had to be blind.
I have 2 tundra's. Both first Gen. Rock solid trucks, but they never met a gas station they didn't like.
I saw a new Tundra the other day, and its kinda growing on me. I know they were having some wastegate issues with the turbos, but I wouldn't expect the engine itself to be any less reliable that the V6 that comes in the Tacoma.

Had both turbos go out on my 16 f150

The grills have to be huge for them to maximize airflow and cool off those hi-rpm screaming lil twin-turb’d V6’s

I didn't know that the 2022 Tundra had a new engine, and I agree that it is an unknown. Toyota is still the best for the 2015-2020 range that the OP is looking for.
