My dad bought the girls a .243 several years that they have shared. When he passed away back in '18, I found my old Rem 700 .243 that he bought me when I was 13 or so. I got it and now both girls have a rifle to hunt with (or give to their kids when that time comes). Only guns I'm really sentimental about are ones that dad bought/gave me. If I bought them, I have no problem selling them...only gun I've bought that I regret selling was my Colt 1991-A1 (of course, I want another one now and the prices are through the roof)

What something is worth has never made me sell anything. I don't sell a lot of guns anyway, but if I like what I have, I won't sell it. If I'm not crazy about it, I'll sell for something I do like. If something has went way up in value, and you later wish you hadn't sold it and decide to replace it, you either won't be able to or it will cost you a bunch.

I killed my first several deer with my first rifle and it's long since been gone. I do not regret selling it one bit. My first shotgun on the other hand is not and will not be for sale.

The first rifle I bought was a college graduation present to myself - Browning BAR .300 Win Mag. My nephew killed his first deer with it about 20 years ago; I gave the rifle to him a couple of years ago because it meant more to him than it did to me.

Guns that my dad gave me over the years and ones I bought for him and got when he passed away - I don't plan on getting rid of any of those.

The guns I got when my dad died mean more to me than my guns do - got some really neat guns from him - few pretty valuable. The old clunker single barrel that was his dads that ain’t worth any $$ means more to me than any of them. It hunts pretty good too.

I know the day will come when I will get my Dad's as he is 82, but definitely in no hurry to get them. Both girls will have nicer guns handed down to them and their children. Just wanted thoughts from others. Thanks and may sell it to upgrade a scope.

Still hoping BCLC will adopt me grin

I may be selling the first rifle I bought my oldest son. He’s off at school and needs some money. He killed a couple of deer with it as a kid. He’ll never use it again as it’s a youth model ADL 7-08 and he’s about 6’2 now. I’m more attached to it than him so that’s why I haven’t yet.

He uses a CDL now. He's good to go! My first rifle was given to me by the dad of the girl I was dating in high school. It was a Marlin 30-30 probably 1960's or earlier. He really liked me. grin My dumbazz didn't know what I had and I ended up selling it to buy another gun. I did kill my first deer with that gun. Sure wish I had it back now.

If you can run base/crown and read a tape measure there just might be room for you in our family. 😃

Send him the cash and we could trade rifles and keep it all in the family
