I was wondering what type of anchor system everyone uses for the tripod deer stands? I was thinking about going with some auger anchors and steel cable. Then I seen some anchors and straps but I wonder if the squirrels will chew those straps up.

Anchor under it in the center. Just use a ratchet strap.

as mentioned above .. 1 long screw type anchor in the center with 1 ratchet strap / turnbuckle is plenty

I'd use an auger anchor with a cable and a turnbuckle to tighten it.....just as long as the ground was stable enough for the auger anchor you're using

If you were really wanting to do it correctly, I would think there would be a certain amount of lbs of tested pull that your anchor needed to resist to be legit safe

I really appreciate all the input. If the rain misses us then I'll set up this week with the auger anchors and straps or steel cables. I seen Academy has a 8' cable with anchor for $19.99.

These work great. Drill them in with a heavy duty cordless impact wrench then thread the eye bolt into the anchor through the hole in the foot plate. Easy day. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/vTsKB6Jm/7174l-Lh-F6-L-AC-SL1500.jpg) This will work as long as the ground is not rocky, full of roots or just rock hard. I tried to anchor some shooting houses with a similar anchors. No luck. It’s been really dry in Northwest Alabama. The ground was to rocky and hard.

I had to buy a heavy duty Kobalt impact drill to get them to work. A regular cordless drill is useless for these. This was in Barbour and Henry counties and pretty rocky tough ground.
