I dont even pay attention to what the GFS says anymore. In the last 4-5 years the GFS (American model) has become increasingly more and more inaccurate. The EURO model has been at least twice as accurate as the GFS over the last 10 yrs. Euro has predicted exactly what IAN is now doing and now projected to do, since it first started as a wave over a week ago now. What the heck has happened to American excellence? GFS projection from Friday/Saturday is going to miss landfall by 500 + miles. Euro is going to hit it spot on within about 50-75.

I am no weather expert I just know that I watch it constantly and they miss big and regularly. And this has been really since Obama took office. I'm not blaming it on him but around those years is probably when they started relying on more computer models and apparently our models aren't that good. I don't know what happened but they don't know with any certainty what is going to happen tomorrow the night before... apparently. Use to be a couple days in advance they were pretty accurate.

Not looking good for me here in Tampa. Just got word that my place of work(downtown Tampa) is under mandatory evacuation starting at 2pm today. Breeze is definitely picking up here at the house. I will say that all the transplants we inherited from NY and California the past year are acting like complete idiots in the grocery stores and gas pumps. They're about to learn the importance of gun ownership once everything goes dark and the authorities aren't responding. I'll keep you boys updated;I'm riding it out

Spoke to Leadership at our Tampa plant this morning.

They are going through safe shutdown measures and evacuating at COB tomorrow

My counterpart there in Tampa is a seasoned Floridian who has rode out many hurricanes in her day and she said she is taking this one very seriously and heading inland first thing in the morning. It's nothing to play with

Technically,I'm a little inland. 17 miles east of downtown to be exact. I just pray it doesn't cut east across the state and cone up the mouth of tampabay and across the state there. Results would be very much like Katrina if it does. Downtown and the surrounding areas flood from a normal bad rainstorm, much less a cat 3+hurricane. I'll keep you guys updated as long as I got power

Calling this the storm of the century. If it’s gonna be worse than Katrina, roll out while you have time.

Katrina was a nightmare for me, but luckily we left. My wife and I call it the best worst thing to happen to us. So many blessings from God that can only be explained because it was a God thing

I rode Katrina out in Grand Bay, AL. She was a bad girl. I knew things were really bad when I saw locked and loaded Mexican Marines(from the country Mexico. Not Mexican US Marines) pulling security in front of the Pascagoula refinery. If Ian is going to be worse than that, we need to start a prayer chain now.

Yep. Don't get me wrong, you get on the wrong side of a Tropical storm and you'll deal with the Threat of Tornadoes all night and day long, but they're scaring folks which isn't hard to do now....

The storm surge along the coast is going to be bad, but this storm aint going to be anywhere close to Katrina.

Nope it isn't and the media feeds off of it.
