I have a chance to hunt a few hundred acres in Sullivan County Missouri. Anyone have any feedback on that area. It is in the northern part of the county. There is corn planted in the property now.

Hunted there one year. Some studs in the area. Hunted probably 6 farms in Missouri and that was my favorite property. I would definitely go.

It obviously matters what the neighbors are doing. But generally there are some good deer on properties up there. Just remember when somebody says "come up and hunt because nobody hunts a certain property." They probably dint know whats going on. But there is a chance you could get lucky and find a gem.

I'd feel better if the property had bigger blocks of timber. Those cornfields dont do you much good when the acorns start dropping.

Have hunted what appears to be one county south and west of there and no shortage of studs.
Good luck and as others have said - bow Halloween through first week of November should be prime time and then first gun season.

Should be good hunting in that area. I know I guys that owns a lot of land south of there and they kill monsters (170" plus). All depends on the specific tract and neighbors, but thre are big deer in that area of Missouri for sure.

Hunted just to the West in Ravanna last year. My very first trip up there I was fortunate to take a 147" 10pt and was tagged out on the third hunt. All properties are not created equal as with any area you hunt and I may have just got lucky, but I would be going back this year if circumstances were different.

With your fishing skills, you should be able to quickly make friends as well. Bring them the the coast and put them on a tarpon and you will be set for life.

If the landowner will allow it, your OTC tags for deer will also cover for a fall turkey tag(at least it did when I was there) and there are probably no shortage of birds.
Had a buddy that swapped a lot of 150+ inch racks for some slot reds and 3lb specks.
No telling what your skills would get you, but I bet you would like it.

Archery tags come with 2 any deer tags and 2 turkey (eithee sex). Fall firearms turkey tags are separate and are. good for only the month of october. Just to clarify.
