A powerful New York politician claims she was just speaking as a private citizen when she tried to run Chick-fil-A out of town, but she used her official letterhead and even invoked her position as City Council speaker to apply pressure on the embattled chicken chain.

New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who has mayoral aspirations, sent a letter to New York University president John Sexton on Saturday asking the school to immediately end their contract with the fast food restaurant. The Atlanta-based company's sole New York City outlet is in the school's food court.

"I write as the Speaker of the NYC Council, and on behalf of my family. NYC is a place where we celebrate diversity. We do not believe in denigrating others. We revel in the diversity of all our citizens and their families,” the letter begins.

"Let me be clear; I do not want establishments in my city that hold such discriminatory views," Quinn, an open lesbian who recently married her longtime partner, also wrote in the letter. "We are a city that believes our diversity is our greatest strength and we will fight anything and anyone that runs counter to that."

I'm sure the airport/whitesburg store will be worthy its a mad house on regular days. I Didnt take pictures but should have, walmarts lower parking has never seen that many cars. No one was arguing, cutting in line, complaining it was all stand up folks in there.

Dad just called from the one in Daphne. 100ppl inside and 50+ cars waiting in line. Over an hour wait to get food.

The wife and I tried to get in the one at Alabaster Promenade. I am not joking, if you count the ones in line on the parkway and then out to Hwy 31 it stretched 1/3 to 1/2 mile. We decided to go maybe tomorrow so we ate down the road. When we left an hour later at noon it was still 1/2 mile line to get into it.

Not a great pic, this is Hwy 31 and the inside lane going opposite direction was the line to get to Chik Fil A. The right lane was wide open and clear to enter the Promenade which told me these were all Chik Fil A folks. The line stretches past that red light you see in the back ground and then some.

The CFA in Leeds is packed, lines going everywhere, but yet, they are getting people in and out quickly!

I kind of smiled and said AMEN when I came over the hill and saw the crowd at Chick-Fil-A. I have no doubt in my mind that Jesus has one huge smile on His face today!

If there was ever hope for our country, today is good as good as starting point as any..

The ProGay Agenda crowd picked on three things that were bigger than they ever imagined:

1. God. People get bit messing with God. Good folks will rally.

2. Fried Chicken. Start messing around with fried chicken and people will get their fur raised.

3. Chick-fil-A. Start messing around with a Godly business that puts fried chicken inside a buttery bun with a pickle...you get backlash central!

But......

Will the public support and outcry on behalf of Chick-fil-A carry over to other parts of life that are also important? Will we believers in this nation rise up and stand firm on other issues? Will we take it to the streets and spend our money in support of a worthy cause? Will we speak out with our retraction of patronage and money to establishments that support and promote anti-biblical agendas? Time will tell.
